I am on the waiting list at L & M Fleet Supply who told me May and about $370. I am making extra room in my freezer in the meantime.

As a single shot fan, I'm getting one, probably a 223, but still haven't decided. Maybe one of each.

LOL
Yeah .308 Win. Could there be a better all round rifle caliber?

I built this gun in the 70's when they were made only in 221 fireballs so I made this into a 308 and I just sold it a few year ago .

Since 308 is the parent cartridge of one of my favorite calibers the 243 I might need one of these single shots in 308 for my collection. Besides I have a Burris 2 x 7 that needs another home besides the drawer its living in right now.

I ordered steel frame single shot at Firing Line in Rice Lake, WI. Mid May is what they're expecting for the due date; I get the first 45-70 that shows up

. That's the price I paid, too. You'd think it won't take long when they start shipping, since they're only about 12 blocks from the Henry plant where they're made.
Like any good rifle looney I've been studying up on sighting options, ring heights, etc. I'm leaning toward mounting a fixed 2 3/4X Burris I have, due to older eyes.
The catalog copy states that these rifles are drilled and tapped for a Weaver 82 base, the same one as the H&R handi-rifle used. I happen to have one of those in my scope mount drawer. The internet chatter says that this base may position the scope too far forward for us "average people". It's 6" long, but has only two cross slots, which also can be limiting. I found that Warne has a base, also made to fit the H&R rifles. It's steel, 4 1/2" long, and has 4 cross slots, the rearmost right at the end, an inch further back than the Weaver 82, with the total span being close to that of the Weaver. It's more expensive, naturally, but is another option. I thought I'd put it out here, hopefully it will be helpful to other single shot fans. I have the bases covered, now I just need the rifle in my hands to verify ring height. Impatiently waiting...
