Skinner sight on Single shot rifle

Anyone use a Skinner rear barrel sight that fits NEF and Henry single shot? Has anyone used the Dovetail attachment ramp for the front sight? If so how did this work for you? What was the front sight height used with the ramp? Thinking about this for Single shot in 30-30.

I have them both on mine. I think it depends on your caliber/cartridge as to whether or not you can use the factory front sight. I have a 44 Mag, and the factory front sight definitely would not have worked on mine. Even after I filed Skinner's supplied front blade way down, it was still well higher than what Henry put on it.

The sights work very well; I'm pleased with how it's set up. If I had my druthers, I might have put some half wings/ears on the back to protect that single aperture stem sticking up, but it seems to be fine as is. I'll add some pics below shortly.

Skinner makes some really good stuff. I also like their front ramp shotgun bead. I bought and installed a couple of those; that's a really nice add-on. Another great product they have is their folding take down case. I got one of those for a cut-off Winchester Model 12 - that makes for a fantastic setup.

I ended up with a "total package" on the Skinner sights. The last thing I added was that elevation lock for the aperture. I didn't consider it at first, but, after I went through a few zeroing trials, I found out just how much drop that 44 Mag round was going to have, and I put it on for quick changes in case of a max-ord adjustment at mid-range. The front site blade is filed WAY down from what they sent, but I was advised that that would probably be the case.

Thank you for the reply! I waiting for a local dealer to get one in 30/30 in. Is the front sight 3/8 wide? How does it look as far as height?

It looks good. Good proportion, and I think it adds some needed balance to the overall look of the rifle.

It's actually 1/2" wide.

It does look good and keep the lines of the rifle looking trim.

If you think about it how does it shoot for accuracy?

That's a very good hunting group! That's a dead Deer or Black bear all day. Been checking with my local dealer for 30-30. Do you happen to know how high the front sight is the blade portion? I'm thinking about a Marble front sight post in white. Thanks for posting it looks great.
