Have to admit, it's been a long, long time since I've seen a gun company announce so many new products for the upcoming year as Henry has and so many of them classics. For an old traditionalist like me, very exciting. Love it.

TGR I am always amazed at your firearm skills. Most of us just dream of what you have done.

If Ruger does drop the #1 HRA looks to be ready to fill the void that is good news to me and the neat thing is the new HRA look so good as opposed to the H&R's of the past. If they shoot as well as past single shot we will all have a winner.

I agree... they really do look like quality firearms. The simplicity will keep the costs down. Should be a lot of fun to shoot at the range.

If shooting from a bench, this style of rifle makes a lot of sense.

Does anyone have experience with one? I'm curious as to the accuracy, one in .243 would be a great varmint/deer rifle. ;)
I'm glad to see Henry fill the gap H&R left, I'm hoping they'll shoot really well they are affordable.
Thanks.

Is it too early to start lobbying for additional cartridges? I think not! When I saw the release about the Henry single shots, about the only one that hit the "need it now zone" was the 45-70. I have a Brno SS .308 already, the .243 doesn't scratch an itch, so a .223 probably makes the futures list. Still, a .22 Hornet would also be interesting, maybe a .257 Roberts, a 7mm-08 (7 x 57 Mauser ?) or one of the 6.5 family (6.5 x 55?), and a medium bore, like .338 Federal (my vote ;) ), a .358 Win.or .375 Win. (38/55?) would give us some more tires to kick. After all, Ruger made a career out of chambering No. 1's in a variety of rounds.

I am really hoping to see a 45 Colt. Yeah, I could always order up a custom 45 Colt barrel for my TCs, but I'd rather have the 45 in a dedicated single shot, rather than mess with having to change barrels. I suspect, though, that other cartridges are ahead of it on the list of future chamberings. I will absolutely be getting one of these new Henry single shots in the first run, though.

I messaged youtuber TWANGnBANG yesterday asking if he will be doing a review of the Henry Single Shot. He indicated that it is on his agenda. I don't know which version or caliber, but it will be nice to see his video.

I watched the replay of Anthony Imperato's chat. In a question specific to the single shot rifles, he mentioned that there will be additional cartridges chambered. I recall mention of .357 Mag, 30/30 and 338 Federal. albeit the .338 federal will first be seen in the Long Ranger. He didn't say when, but it does sound like they're already planning ahead for future offerings in single shots. I recall mention of the 45 Colt, too, but he may have meant to say 45-70, if I remember the context correctly. It's a brave man who'll come out and chat "off the cuff" like that ;) .

Yes, I heard him say .45 Colt also, and if I remember the context correctly he was talking about calibers available now. I was wondering if he meant they would be releasing it in .45 Colt, but maybe he meant to say .45-70?

I sent a question to Henry asking them if they were going to make it in 45 colt and this is the answer I got.

"Thank you for your interest in Henry and for reaching out. We do plan on expanding the Single Shot lineup in the near future. No word on specific calibers yet but keep an eye on us for any official announcement. Please let me know if you have any other questions."

kind of generic but at least it was sent promptly . Let's hope they do make it in 45 colt.

What am I missing here? :? ;)

I sure hope that Henry expands their single shot line, that they sell really well, and the folks who buy them really enjoy them ..... that said, I'm with Les, I just don't see the attraction :?:

In the state I live in, there is a portion of deer hunting season that is dedicated to these types of rifles. So you get to hunt more days of you have one.

As I understand it, you have to be shooting black powder or single shot rifles that use a caliber with a straight wall case.

I wish that the powers that be would do that here. They allow seasons for crossbows and scoped muzzle loaders using sabots for jacketed bullets. From an actual performance point of view, how's that different from a single shot 45-70?

I think the use of single shot rifles is a fairly recent development here. At one time is was black powder only.
