New to Single shot, sighting question

Post by MarkER » Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:07 pm

I love the gun but it somewhat bothers me that you can't effectively use the iron sights without cocking the hammer first. Are there any alternatives for a modified hammer that would allow target acquisition prior to cocking?

I've never really given this any thought because all 4 of mine are either scoped or wear a red dot. I can't milk the accuracy potential out of the rifle with factory irons. To answer your question, I'm not aware of any after market hammer options.

I dont like the factory irons. I also put a red dot on mine and it works great.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Check the top of the page, at the right in the blue area. There is a link for Skinner sights. A new Peep Sight with a higher front sight might cure your issue, but give them a call, they can discuss it with you. :D I have Skinner sights on my Big Boy Carbine. HIGH Quality, very accurate and nice sight picture. I couldn't see well enough with the Buckhorns, but the Skinner's cured that ill.

They look good:

These 25 yard groups were the first fired with the new sights:

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
