Your thoughts on the Henry single-shot rifle?
Re: Your thoughts on the Henry single-shot rifle?
I saw that, too, and wondered about the two "m's"
. I got mine from Midway, with a free shipping promotion to make them a little better deal. A lot of outfits don't carry them.

Picked one up today...will post pics and impressions once I get a couple of other projects out of the way. I can't fire it yet anyway...every shop in town was sold out of .45-70 rounds today
. For those that own one of these in .45-70, what is your preferred factory ammunition? I don't reload (yet).

Congrats on picking up a great rifle - ours likes Winchester 300 JHP - we usually get it at Walmart. We also reload 45/70 and we try to copy this exact round with our reloads.roddy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:11 pmPicked one up today...will post pics and impressions once I get a couple of other projects out of the way. Tad is the Single shot king in the Henry rifles. Think he owns like 4 of them. I have been tempted to buy another several times but have just held back.

Re: Your thoughts on the Henry single-shot rifle?
Stop thinking, go buy one! These single shots are instant Classics. Or should be.
Go to your LGS, heft which ever model is available.
The rifle weighs about 7 pounds, give or take - it feels 'right'.
Feel the smooth movement as you break it open. Then close the action - it locks up solidly.
Bring it to your shoulder, line up the sights, feel the checkering. The balance is nice, partly owing to its slightly shorter length, not needing space for a bolt.
But be warned, you may find yourself saying something like: "I'll take it."

Bought mine for my grandson to inherit. Of course, I am breaking it in for him, first.

Re: Your thoughts on the Henry single-shot rifle?
well i bought a h015 in 45-70, had some small problems one screw missing henry sent me one. front sling mount was to far back and cut my finger not comfortable the good people at henry said so what nothing they could do. warranty not good. so i went ahead and rechambered it to 45-90 i shoot mostly black powder 85 grains bp 500 grain lfp. it is a real hoot to shoot love that rifle shoulder is not bothered by it even after 50 rounds. next i will try some smokless and 535 grain lfp. sure is accurate 2 inch groups at 100 yards can do better rang the gong at 500 yards 3 out of 4 times. just can not beat the henry h015 in ang caliber.
