Your Favorite Fishing Rod

Freshwater saltwater Lakes, Ponds, Rivers, Streams talk about the ones that got away. Show us the ones that didn't.

Yup. My son is a big open reel fan. Hope he can teach his kids. Bait casters are a mystery to me. The line on that reel was put on by my brother and me in the early 60’s.

We are about to take our kayaks and fishing gear to the midwest, after decades of working the Rivers, lakes, and ponds of the Eastern US, including the Salty Stuff off shore. I'm thinking it will be an adventure. Bass and panfish in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and Arkansas. They have good fishing, I'm sure. :P

(Looks like it on you tube. )

The move, or fishing. The sale process has been a giant pita... I'm sure the packing, move, storage, purchase, closing, reload, move, unpacking... Whew... ;)

Let's do the fishing.... :P

My Fenwick Ultra Lite with an older ,but, in perfect condition, Mitchell 308 reel. Many of trout have come to the surface with that set up. One of my favorite baits: "Steak and eggs"!= treble hook, aired up night crawler, small marshmallow and some gawd awful garlic juice. Trout cannot resist!
Hey Bud, I also have a Fenwick FS55 Ultralight rod that I fished with using a Mitchell 308 reel.

Sometime in the mid 1970's I bought a Daiwa SS-1 reel that was incredibly smooth. A few years later I picked up a Garcia-ABU Cardinal 752, another super-smooth performer. Still have my reels and the Fenwick rod. Also have a Garcia Gold Ultralight rod

My favorite bait was an artificial fly on a 3' leader, with a water-filled bobber for casting weight. The large panfish would run right over the little worm nibblers to get to the fly.

Brook trout were my favorite when I lived in upstate NY but they don't have trout here in Florida so I lost interest. I need to start fishing again.

I love those old Mitchels. I have a working model from about 1960. My dads.

Oh yeah, like those 308's! Haven't trout fished in almost a year because of this covid mess. Maybe now with folks getting their shots, things might loosen up. I seriously need to hit the Eastern Sierra's and land a few 'bows or Germans. Miss it! Thanks for the pics!.

Yup, love those ultralights. Had a DAM Quick Microlite but it was stolen when real estate showed the house.

My Holy Grail is an Alcedo Microlite reel.
