No Jolly Roger but I’m old enough to remember them and drooling over them as a youngster.
Went out yesterday for our maiden voyage. Mostly to put some hours on the motor and to introduce the dog to the boat. As you can see the water is very low which I understand is typical for this tine of the year. Normal full pool of the reservoir is where you can see the green grass on each side of the ramp. The water is supposed to be full pool in June which gives us many more launches to use.
Cruise went well other than the 2’ chop. Boat handled it well but we were expecting no to little wind so was surprised to find choppy. Went downriver first which was into the wind and chop running for an hour or so with varying rpm’s. I saved my high rpm runs for the way back when we would be running with the wind.
As seen in the pic our dog handled the boat trip just fine. He stepped from the dock onto the elevated rear casting platform without hesitation which I didn’t expect. Lately he has become shy about getting in and out of the car. A little more difficulty getting him out but he complied with some firm pressure on his leash. We put the rear jump seats and the cover to the live well up to keep the dog from getting interested in the wake. Seemed to work.
Made the run back to the launch putting the boat on plane several times. Rode nice and is real peppy. Shouldn’t be a problem giving the grandkids a thrilling ride in a tube.
A few more break-in cruises and then we’ll focus on learning the fish finder and giving fishing a shot. We have some week long trips already scheduled around the area where we can camp and fish/boat. Plus the launch in the picture is only about 20 miles from our place near the Canadian Border where we can camp for free. When the water is at full pool it’s only about 5-6 miles to the closest launch.
Meant to take more pictures but I got busy and forgot.
