Nice fish Bugs. You are lucky to have that kind of access to that kind of fishing. Id half to eat one now and then.

Al the irony here is that I mostly ignored this fishery for the 20 years I've lived here. Spent most of my time in the salt chasing tarpon, snook and redfish. Even did the offshore gig for a while. It was fun but when I think of the $$$ I blew on that venture it makes me wonder. All the while I had this world class bass fishery in my back yard. I think that is the definition of stupid. It took a cut in income and a couple of years of red tide destroying our inshore fishery to push me back there after bass and I must say I've never been happier on the water. Very few people fishing out in these canals as everyone is keyed into the saltwater glamour fishes. Beautiful scenery, wading birds, a myriad of turtles and other critters in the canal systems and no crowds. It is relaxing and fun and costs very little. Took the day of from work got up early this morning and going to do a little bass fishing. :D

Todays contestants. Caught 7 bass, fished for 3 hours, lost 6 more. One which was really big, looked like someone dropped a bathtub in the water when it hit but totally missed the lure. Couple pics of ones that didn't get away.

I took the boat out to test a new ss prop it went well. Did a quick troll and landed a nice trout for dinner. Went home relaxed and happy with my day.

trolling for walleye has become my favorite form of fresh water fishing .... as one with a long history of casting for bass, that is a considerable change .... its not that I've lost interest in bass fishing, the reality is, arthritic hands make it impossible for me to cast like I used to .... yesterday I had the pleasure of walleye fishing with a couple of relatives .... South Dakota allows a daily limit of 4 walleyes, only 1 can be 20 or more inches .... the three of us kept 8 walleyes, 2 of which were over 20 inches .... we also kept a dozen crappie ..... one met South Dakota's Proud Angler standards, minimum of 2 lbs and 15 inches .... for me, catching that crappie was a highlight .... its the largest one I've very seen, much less caught

A nice fish but not too fat or big. Taken on a gold and white Cobra. Lead line all colours out trolled at 3 knots. The really big fish are in the Tekapo canals.

Dang! Very jealous.

I caught big trout in Wyoming years ago. Nothing like that. Inspiring to say the least.

I am catching and eating channel cats now.

And Jebar, I can hope to get those kind of walleye too. Local lake has them. I've caught a few. A worthy goal.
