Good day at the range- of a completely different sort
Good day at the range- of a completely different sort
I got a pleasant surprise today at the range. Since moving back to Wisconsin at the end of 2014 I have been a member of an outdoor range in my town. Over the past several months, I've been shooting more regularly, and have begun to make some friends there.
This morning, a couple of the directors took me aside and asked me if I would like to take a more active role at the range. I've been invited to become an alternate director. They have two alternates, and whenever a director steps down, one of the alternates is chosen to be a director. I also will be on the rotation to be a range officer.
Meanwhile, I think the targets I was shooting at today were moving. Or, it may have been windy. Could've been a bad batch of ammo, too.

Congratulations, Ditto! My targets move like that sometimes, too. Or maybe it's the ammo. I shoot indoors, so it can't be wind. Or...can it?

Thanks. A funny thing, though. They didn't happen to mention the pay. I'm sure it's pretty substantial, though, don't you think?Deadwood Dutch wrote:Congratulations on your promotion!

It's always a double edged sword when asked to do more. Ask CT_Shooter , RSb and JEBar. They answered our inquiries to help out and now they work like dogs.
Good for you. Cream always rises to the top.

Dave, I'm guessing the pay here is about as good as I will be getting at the range?daytime dave wrote:It's always a double edged sword when asked to do more. Ask CT_Shooter , RSb and JEBar. They answered our inquiries to help out and now they work like dogs.

That's the only pay they get. Your appreciation and mine

Congrats. Ya those moving targets in the wind with bad ammo make for a challenging day....

Did they forget to tell you that when you become a director you never have time to actually shoot anymore!
Glad you stepped up and are willing to help out.

Ah.... So that's where the "pay" comes in. You save money by not shooting so much.White Squirrel wrote:Did they forget to tell you that when you become a director you never have time to actually shoot anymore!![]()
