Ruger Predator 22 Mag.

Post by bandit1250 » Wed Jul 06, 2016 12:49 pm

I went to the range yesterday knowing the road would be a mess with the rain we had. It was slick yellow clay but I made it up in o.k. I shot my Ruger I just got at 50 yds. I bore sighted it first just looking through it and looked pretty good. Shot at the center bull so it would hit the paper. The first shot was only about 3/4" left and 1" high. I was going to move it then I thought I better shoot two more to see if it stays close. The next one made the hole only slightly bigger and the 3rd was still very close and was a 7/16" overall. The second group of three almost a repeat of the first. First two same hole and the third almost touching for 1/4" but never adjusted it far enough. Third bull lower right I only shot two because it I failed again on moving it enough. Moved it again and shot three at the top right bull. Bingo! Finally got it in and shot three again and same thing. First two one hole almost perfect center and third cut the bottom of those two. 7/16" for those three. I will shoot more at another time as I don't want to waste a lot of ammo on paper until I get a decent supply. Then to the Savage B-Mag. 17. What a piece of crap. Hard to close the bolt down and shot awful. This is the second time I shot this thing and the last. It shot the same the last time and I thought it could be the scope so I changed it and no better. I took it back to the owner and told him he maybe had two choices on what to do. Either send it back or beat it down over that 55 gallon drum out side his door. I shot a CZ 17 HMR also to check the zero on it. It was not great but those little holes make them look worse than they are. The right bull was 1/2" and the left with the HPT ammo was 3/4". Not great for a CZ but I will try it again for my friend before giving it back.
Ruger 22 Mag. May be the best shooting 22 Magnum I ever fired if it continues to shoot like this. I hate that stupid trigger with the blade you pull back first. It now has a zip tie through it to hold it back. Works good now and the zip tie acts as a trigger stop. :D

B-Mag target and CZ 17. The B-Mag was made to shoot really huge varmints. That way maybe you could hit one. ;)

That is some good shootin'. My CZ in .17HMR is my most accurate firearm.
