Well, I finally made it out to the range. It was a nice day and fairly quiet. My wife was Mother Day tuckered out. So, I figured that is would be a good time to try and see what I could do with the Cloverleaf sight on the Henry at 100 yards. I only shot 12 rounds in all (some at 50 yards, and some at 100 yards). But, I felt at home. It was relaxing and peaceful (just me). I have not taken pictures yet. However, I may have shot about a 3" grouping at 100 yards. I was using Winchester PowerPoint 150 grains. But, I think that I will give Remington 150 grains a try. I wondering if I could get a tighter group. Even with 12 shots, I learn that I need to practice, practice, and practice. At any rate, I was happy with the result.

P.S.
I was off on my guess. My last grouping was about 4 1/2".The first group worse though (high). I tried a center hold. With a smaller sight picture, I thought that I should give it a try. But, a 6 o'clock hold seems to work better.

What caliber is your Henry? Great that you could get out and shoot!

Been thinkin about one of those Ranger Points for one of my guns for a while. Did you use there front sight?

No sir. I kept the standard front sight. It seems to work fine. But, I suspect the optic front sight would be easier to pick up though. In low light, it would probably be the way to go. As the Sun was setting, the front sight became harder to pick up. But, I was thinking about using this rifle more as a backup for hunting. So, I should have a fair amount of light available. If not, I would probably stay home.

Glad that you made it out to the range! I found that my Henry 30-30 really likes Winchester 170 grain power points. I have tried them all including the Hornady gummy points and the 170 grain Winchester were by far the most accurate in my rifle.

in thinking back to the mid 60's when I made the decision to get into loading my own ammo, I had several brands of 30-30 factory loads .... as I remember those brands included Remington, Winchester, Peter's, and Federal .... fired through our Model 94 Winchester, all of them grouped pretty well .... but, at a hundred yards, they all grouped at different locations .... the Winchester Silvertips proved to be the best and was the brand I tried to duplicate with my hand loads ... looking forward to your continued search for what works best in your rifle

Thanks for the tips. Being cheap, I was hoping to find a round that would work in my Marlin and Henry. But, I may have to settle for two brand of 30-30 rounds.
