6-24-16: A really good day at the range

Post by ditto1958 » Mon Jun 27, 2016 7:32 pm

Some days at the range, yay can't hit the broad side of a barn. Other days, you can't miss. Friday morning, a buddy who is an outstanding shooter was at the range. He was shooting a scoped rifle, and I asked him what he was shooting at, because he didn't seem to be hitting anything I could see. He said to go look through the spotting scope, because there were some plastic beverage containers, clay birds and ping pong balls out at 100 yards.

I looked and saw them, and then sat at a bench with my stock (except for new BX trigger) 10/22 with open sights. With my first three shots, I hit a 32 oz. beverage bottle, a clay bird, and a ping pong ball.

Of course, the next two days, Saturday and Sunday, it was back to normal. However... for that one shining moment, I was deadly accurate with my trusty Ruger. :)

...as long as you can hit whatever you have to when it matters; it's all good! Sounds like you had a great day.

better than a good day at work.

Glad ya had a good time.

At least you were able to shine while in front of another good shooter! :D

But, you got three straight days of shooting in. I don't think I have shot three days in all of 2016.

I'm in the same boat. Only eight shots from my Avanti. Not even a firearm. It was fun though. I'm hoping to get a few more days in soon.

I'm glad you were able to shine with your 10/22. Makes you feel good huh?

Those climbs above and beyond "normal" are always great. I bet the shine was really bright when the Ping-Pong ball went flying!
Thanks for sharing a good experience with us! :)

Yeah, I couldn't even see the ping-pong ball at 100 yards without a scope. And even with a scope I probably couldn't hit it!

Well, to be fair, it was an optic green ping pong ball. Not only that, but if I'd been there with and scope today, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have hit it either.
