Tough day at the range........

Had a simple task to do today and that was to get some speed readings off my 230 gr. 45 Colt Cowboy Action loads.
Bullet is a 230 gr. Speer swaged lead bullet loaded over 7.6 - 7.8 gr. of Unique.
According to my Speer book this is a start load for a 230 gr. lead bullet and should give 809 FPS or so. I was looking for 780-820 FPS
from my Ruger New Vaquero with 5.5 inch barrel.
Nice blue sky day but my old Chrony F1 did not want to function. Changed shooting directions with regards to sun angle with and without the shades
and after 15 shots nothing but "ERROR".
Well I had enough of that crap and put an end to it. I don't know what the speed is but two 230 gr. 45 slugs were enough to send that ol' Chrony
back to Jesus!
Sorry for the battery that took a direct hit!
These loads are for my new Remington 1858 revolver when it gets here. They specify loads no faster than 850 FPS or a Max of 12,000 PSI.
They still had a bit of kick but hopefully in the safe range I need.
Now time to search for a better type chrony that isn't so picky with running!
