Didn't even take targets with me. Just the Mare's Leg, some ammo, and my cup of joe. I started by shooting at shotgun shells at 10 yards. I have a Stevens No 105 three hole peep on the receiver and a Lyman Globe up front. Skinner modified the front barrel band/hanger to accept a standard dove. Oh, I just remembered my excuse. I needed this container for something else and had bulk Winchester ammo in it. Didn't know where to put it so decided I should just shoot it. Don't you love it when you accomplish a goal?
Happy New Year All!

Range Report: plinking with the Mare's Leg
I always seem to find some lame excuse to take a Henry to the range instead of what I had planned. So instead of taking the CZ as planned I took a Henry Mare's Leg in .22LR. Can't remember what the excuse was but I'm sure it would be lame.

I think it may be the coffee that does it. You do seem to have the kind of day at the range we all dream about; an opportunity to shoot just for the fun of it and to empty a container of unwanted ammo! It's a shrewd range report though; sans shotgun shells blown to heck; which, I suspect, is how needing that container came to mean more than the ammo it held.

Looks a fun range day! And always pleasant to see the coffee in its place.
Thanks for reminding me on shooting shotgun shells. I did that with my Henry .22WMR, but not yet with my SGC. I'll be sure to take some spent 12-ga hulls next time the SGC and me head out to the range!

It sounds and looks like you had a good time. A nice day of plinking for sure. I'm glad you emptied the container too.

Sir Henry, Looks like you had fun even without the CZ's. I like where you put your Weaver adjustment caps where they won't get lost so easy. Those little caps are so often not with the scopes when you find a nice scope to buy and not easy to find just the caps when you need a set. Lets see you put the CZ's through some range shooting some time soon.

Good to see you were able to stop the invading army of shotgun hulls!
Had they breeched your perimeter they certainly would have kicked your coffee cup over.

You're pretty good with that Mare's Leg.

Funny that you mention the caps. I was thinking they went to a Sears scope which got me thinking about Sears. Then I saw the Sears rifle in the lgs and bought it. Turned out the caps didn't fit the Sears scope. I'm heading to the range again today to shoot the Sears rifle.bandit1250 wrote:Sir Henry, Looks like you had fun even without the CZ's.
