Ringin Steel and 41 Bowlin

Post by BigAl52 » Sat Feb 29, 2020 7:18 pm

Went to my favorite spot on the Pawnee Grasslands today. Just took out one rifle. Its my favorite caliber BBS 41 mag. Took some bags of odds and ends I had loaded up and shot a couple 100 rounds through the 41. Rang the 8 inch and 6 inch steel plates. I also picked on the bowlin pins. I did have one load that I was going to load up for a test load just recently. But when I got to lookin at my loaded rounds I discovered I had loaded it already  Loaded up 10 rounds for my old buddie Randy. Alternated between the 2 steel plates. No fence to lean on just shot at them off hand. Not going to say how many times I missed. Anyway shot the target here posted off the roof of the ole Bonneville at 25 yards with my test load. I think it might be a keeper. I made a small sight adjustment after this raising the center diamond in the sight. Oh I also turn the annoying diamond around. Dont care for that diamond at all. Next picture shows how bowlin pins fair against the 210 gr bullets out of the 41. Oh the load I was using is 8 gr of Unique with that Xtreme 210 gr plated flat point. Its shoots very good in mine. Had a great time.

That target is a keeper for sure. Nice shootin'. Looks like a strike to me on the pin.

Great shootin' Al ! That Unique works well in a lot of calibers. Have you tried 2400 in the .41 mag?
That is one shredded bowling pin!

Last several days around here have been cold and windy so hoping to get out next day or so.

Forty I havent tried any for a while but I have used it in some pistol loads. I know it works well in the 41. With the Xtreme bullets pushing them any faster than I am with Unique isnt really necessary for the shooting I do. I do have some Hornady xtp 210gr bullets but Im not hunting with it so those 8 gr Unique loads are good enough for me.
