28f & breezy but not too bad today for shooting. Pistol day. My 1860 Colt SA Army Richards conversion revolver. 45 Colt. 8" barrel and a V-notch in the hammer as rear sight. Shooting reloads, 200 gr LRNFP and 6.6 gn of Universal. Nice light pistol loads.

First up is 2 of those little 3" targets at 20 yds, 1 handed shooting. They are fun to shoot. If I do my part this is a very accurate revolver. As mentioned before, the distance between front sight and rear when cocked is about 10". Helps to line things up pretty good.



Over to the 50 yd range for some 2-handed shooting...15 rounds but only 14 on the paper, must have zigged when I should have zagged... ...oh well, that one got away but if he comes back I'll just get my Henry out.



Filled a target shooting 1-hand at 50 yds, a little wild to say the least but hit the paper. Like I said, when the bad guys come the Henry rifle is my go to...

Wow what can we say??? Excellent job workin' that big ol' 45 Colt! I like that old time photo app you use!

I like old tin-types and such, and it seems to really suit old cowboy guns.

Always a joy to see those big 45 Colt sixgun holes in paper by someone who knows how to shoot one.

your SA 1860 has proven to be a well built, open top revolver .... I suspect that you've fired more rounds through it than most

Good shooting, RR. I don't recall if you've ever said where you set POA when shooting your 1860 SA? Are your fixed sights close to spot on? Thought of asking when you said the revolver is very accurate as long as "you do your part."

I haven't shot my Russian top break near the number of rounds you've sent down range. But I'm getting a better handle on using the fixed iron sights on mine. You handle that V-notch in the hammer with much aplomb. And the revolver has definitely been built with a quality hammer to maintain the sight accuracy you get out of it.

Enjoyed the revolver time.
