New gong stand

Well this morning in between rain showers I put up a new permanent gong stand in the back yard.
Then I can use the portable one else where.
I still need two more eye bolts so I can hang the 4".
I will paint it once it drys, likely be a day or so as rain off and on through tomorrow.

The frame is scrap angle iron 3x3, and 3x4's it should last a while.
And still 50 yds from the back deck.

Ha! New things to shoot at! Lookin' good. I need to root around in my garage/shop for some target builds. I KNOW I have stuff in there somewhere.
Good idea Randy.

Nice! Remember nice looking fresh paint can be a bullet magnet!

Down at my range I had an old bench swing stand and used it as my big gong hanger. So far so good but does have a bullet hole or two in the legs.

The wife just left to go pick up the grandson, so I eased out on the deck.
Like forty said I felt like I should try it out, that fresh paint was calling me.
Four out of five, rushed the second shot trying to hit it while in motion.

Very nice to have that right out your back door. I have to drive 30 minutes to my shootable backyard!

Now who will be the lucky one to shoot the chain off???

What happened to one of my small gong hangers...a 5.56 drilled center hole you think?

Old swing frame works well as the tombstone gong hanger.

I have one, and have the holes already drilled,
like I mentioned in the opening post, I need a couple eye bolts for the chains.
Next time I get to town, I'll grab a couple.

Al, while I was making room on the desk this morning I found 4 rounds of 41 with a 215 swc.
Right after the wife left to go check on her grandmother, I stepped out on the deck.
First round swung the gong plum over the cross member.
Came back in and tore one down looks like H110, and recovered 17.9 grs.
Looked in one of my manuals and that's below minimum I know I spilled a little.
So I m not sure of the load.

you are developing a nice backyard range .... sadly, a new school has been built on the other side of our backyard's property line .... that eliminates shooting in our back yard

Thanks JEB, sorry to hear about your situation.

Actually the gong setup on the right is my portable one.
I was going to move the 4" over to the new setup, but
now I'm thinking I'll just buy another and leave that one.
I made the other so I can take the other and not have to worry.
The small ones on the left are rim fires.
Even though they have seen some pistola rounds, and maybe a rifle or two. :o

No worries of anyone moving in behind me, Thank goodness.
And we are a good 10 miles from the city limits. ;) :D

Must be nice to step out and pound one down range. Next time I get to go out I will show you my set up. Its all portable. Maybe I will set it up this weekend in the front yard and snap a shot of it.

Al, it is and I wouldn't know how to act if I had to move back into town.
I have lived out here since the late eighties.

Would love to see your setup.
