I had a fun time at the range yesterday with my Big Boy and Revolver. I shot 100 rounds with two different bullets; 50 each; 130gr FMJ and 125gr JSP. The Henry was a 75 feet and the SmokeWagon was at 25 feet. It's been mentioned how addictive reloading can be, and I can attest to that! I haven't taken my H001 and HRR revolver to the range in quite a long time because I want to reload ammo; and then I want to shoot it.

I'm going to add a bit of white to the front sight on the Uberti. I have trouble seeing it against the black targets I use. Not that that's an excuse, but I do think it will help with my aim.

I only bring 100 rounds with me, so when they're gone, I'm done. Yesterday, it was a 45 minute session. Two gents shooting next to me were just in awe of the Henry. We talked for several minutes about the gun and HRA as were gathering our gear. It gave me that feeling of pride of ownership.

I admire your discipline at only taking 100 rounds. Of course, since you also have the reloading addicition now, may I remind you that the more you shoot, the more you get to reload!

It's not so much discipline as it is a self imposed timer. While I love to shoot my cowboy guns and have lots of fun doing it, I don't like to be away from my first and deepest love just as much -- maybe more. The range is roughly a half hour away, usually a bit longer, especially in the summer with all of the tourist traffic; then add on an hour of pure fun heating up the two gun barrels by punching holes in paper and that's two hours, which is about all of the time I can stand to be away from her.

Iron sights do need a target that allows you to see it. I bought some orange ones and while they work great they are $0.17 cents each.

Just looking at your targets again; boy I can't wait to shoot a revolver. Sure looks like a ton of fun. I'd be happy with any of your targets, nicely done.

A few tips.

Be sure to check for loose screws once in a while. On the second outing with mine, the screw that holds the ejector rod to the barrel backed all the way out. The entire ejector assembly sprung forward and off of the gun about 5 feet. I applied blue loctite and they've all stayed put since.

Also, your gun will likely have the same type of cylinder base pin as mine. It has two indents. When pushed all the way in, the pin reaches through to the back of the gun and pushes the hammer away from the cylinder. It's a kind of safety. But, if you pull the trigger with it in that position, it will create a burr on the indented end that will make it very hard to remove when you need to clean the gun. I always leave mine in the outer (firing) position and load five cartridges instead of six. Load one, skip one, load four. Then full cock the gun and release the hammer. It will be on an empty chamber. Hickok45 has a video that demonstrates how this works.
