SW22 Victory

I really didn't expect the gun to be ready for pick up as it was at the Charlotte NC postal center late yesterday afternoon. And no change of status this morning. So I figured it might not get to the FFL in Concord till Monday.
So Love of my life and I decided to take a nice road trip up to Boone in the Mountains. We had a great afternoon, good food, and spent some time browsing an Arts and Craft fair. But didn't find anything we really wanted.
When we got home about 6:00 there was a message from the FFL that my new Smith was ready to pick up.
I figured the range would be busy so I didn't take any ammo with me or a range bag.
The place was almost empty so I had to test fire the pistol. The bore was clear and the slide had a light oil on it. So I bought a box of American Eagle 40grn. lead round nose.
I am going to only shoot un-plated ammo in this one.
Now to the shooting. I love the way this pistol feels, great weight and balance.
I had a fail to extract on the third round followed by a couple of stove pipes. then the rest of that magazine ran fine. I had another fail to extract on the second magazine and a couple of stove pipes. The third magazine I had a couple of stovepipes. The fourth and fifth magazines ran fine.
This was the smokiest 22lr ammo I have ever shot. So I am thinking new gun break in and some funky ammo.
Next time I will take some of my "good stuff".
Here is my new Vic and her first fifty downrange at only 7 yards. So no target skills just testing function.

I love my Ruger 22/45 lite. But it is a PIA to clean. I saw the Hickok45 vid on this S+W the other day and was smitten. A good bud has a Model 41 I used to shoot a lot. Awesome 22. This looks like the perfect answer to the Ruger Mark series guns. If I lived elsewhere I would buy one. But I won't purchase another handgun till I move from this paranoid, one party state.

very nice looking pistol. Impressive accuracy right from the box.

I am a little surprised the American Eagle 40 grain solids gave you problems. That is the .22 ammo I have used the most since .22 ammo has become scarce.

Thanks gentlemen, I really like this pistol. The more I handle it the better it feels. On another forum a shooter who I have a great deal of respect for got one a couple of weeks ago. Her evaluation of it played a big part in my decision to get it. She has had Ruger MK pistols for years and this one impressed her.
It is funny that she asked me how I liked the trigger today. I had to admit that I didn't notice it so it must have been excellent. I will have to pay more attention to the details next range trip.

S+W are known for awesome out of the box triggers.

Can't say for this S+W but a lot of folks feel it's good to use some hot CCI ammo or equal for the 1st couple hundred rounds to break in the Ruger Mark pistols. It loosens up the spring some so I'm told. Auto 22's can be pretty finicky about ammo.

I personally like the American Eagle stuff. Both the Ruger and the GB love it. I've had a few issue with Winchester bulk pack. Both feeding and ejecting because of fat cases.

Congrats on the Victory, RS. I just finished watching the Hickok video on it.

Sure looks like a nice pistol and your accuracy was great. I bet the false starts will smooth out after a good cleaning and as it breaks in some more.

I am sure you will give us an update on your next range trip.

I did get back to the range Monday and ran 100 rounds of CCI Minimags through it without a hiccup.
I did have the takedown screw loosen up on it. So when I got it home I hit the threads with some acetone and put a little Vibra-Tite on them.
