Have a friend who just built one in an AR, he likes it and is carrying his next weekend as a backup gun for the Missouri deer opener.

I don't know why a rifle in .375 Win. caliber would not work as well or better.

When I bought my Marlin 375 brand new, it was because at the time Marlin did not make a 38-55. I still have the rifle.

They were made in the 1893's, later believe 90's they made some Cowboys in the 1894's.
That's what I want.

They made some with a 26" barrel.
There are a couple on GB right now but they are the 24" ones.

Ohio laws state.
Straight-walled cartridge rifles in the following calibers: All straight-walled cartridge calibers from a minimum of .357 to a maximum of .50. Shotguns and straight-walled cartridge rifles can be loaded with no more than three shells in the chamber and magazine combined.
So would this be legal?

But not a 30-30

I was referring to a new Marlin in 1980 . The .375 was only made in a Marlin for a few years and I was lucky to get one before they started with the crossbolt safety.

Ok, Is it right that you can shoot 38-55's in in the 375, but not the other way around?
Pressures I'm thinking?

The 38-55 case is longer than the .375 Win. case and the bullet diameter of a 38-55 is about .378 or a little more. When I bought my rifle I bought a few boxes of new W.W. .375 brass. I also bought some 38-55 brass and trimmed it to the length of the .375 cases. Those I use only for mild cast bullet loads. When I look at the barrel of my rifle it says "Cal. 375 " so no I would not shoot 38-55 ammo . Can it be done, yes but so can you shoot a 270 in a 30-06 rifle.
