BBS 45C and AR-15

Post by wingnut » Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:34 am

Met Mistered at his favorite "range" in the woods for some plinking. I had a scoped (1.5-4x) .223/5.56 AR that had some new parts that needed a function check and, of course, my scoped (1-4x) BBS 45C.

Results (I still need to figure out this pic sizing):

Nosler was all out of bug holes so I picked up the next best item. ;)

Thanks!

BTW, 3 bullets went thru the Speer group.

+1

I've got a 12 bhn .458 385gr hollow-point I'd love to size down and try in 45 colt brass. Nothing silly, but if I could get it to 900 or 1000 fps, I would would be tickled pink.

You are correct. I'd be happy to give you the details (in the reloading section), however, there is a prerequisite especially for the Henry. The COAL of the load is 1.645-1.650" which is common but too long for the unmolested BBB/S to feed. For Henry's, the front of the cartridge fence on the cartridge lifter must be filed back .050-.080". Unless you can feed the longer rounds, loading info is useless. Let me know.

Thanks for the reply wingnut. No load data needed, was just curious about the 405gr bullet in a .45 Colt. That's a heavy one. Thanks again.
