Haven't been on much, lots of riding to do this time of year. But I did get to the range today. Sunshine and 70F. Breezy at times.

My Henry 1860 and Colt 1871 Richards open top conversion revolver. Both in 45 Colt. Ammunition is 200 gr LRNFP with 6.6 gn of Universal. Nice to shoot.

10 rounds with the Colt, 1 hand at 25 yds, pretty happy with this one. I sometimes don't shoot these targets well for some reason. Trying to just shoot and not spend a lot of time second guessing my aim. I never know what to do with my left hand while I am shooting with my right. So today I just kept my left hand on my cartridge belt. Seems ok and sort of old west-y. Maybe I should be rollin' a smoke with my Bull Durham with the left hand. Don't smoke so maybe loading a PEZ instead. Stance is kind of 45 degrees to the target.





Next is 50 yds with the Henry, 12 rounds off hand standing which I don't do a lot of and need to practice more.




50 yds with the Henry, 12 rounds shooting from 1 knee. My go to position with a rifle. Feels best. Might have put 2 in 1 in the upper left, that's kinda cool...





I put all the rest of the rounds on a 12" target at 50 yds, 1 hand with the revolver. Not pretty but all 16 on the paper (mostly) so that's a bit of a surprise as I don't know if I have ever shot 1 handed at 50 yds. 2 hands but I thought today, what the heck? Pretty deadly revolver I would say, that 10" spread from front sight to rear hammer notch V seems to help a lot.

all 16 rounds on that 12" target at 50 yds fired out of your revolver using a 1 hand hold would have put a deer standing broadside in a freezer .... remarkably well done

Not sure if he'd stand still for all 16 rounds but I'll take the compliment....thanks!

Maybe there is something to that reloading/accuracy stuff....who knew?

Sounds and looks like today was a good time to shoot. Impressive RR!

Great report and great shooting, as always. Always a treat to see what you can do with those two guns.

In the sport of 10 meter pistol shooting, it's all one hand, standing, with the guns made specifically for that position. The reason I mention it is that shooters tuck their off hand (left hand) in their pocket, so tucking yours in your belt is a good idea. In this sport, absolute consistency is vital, even down to the position of the off hand. In other words, you're on to something.

I knew and I knew another thing to. That you could do it. Seems like it was just yesterday that RR was doing the back and forth on whether he would reload or not. Nice job as always and I still and have always admired your dedication to one caliber. One pistol one rifle.

Quite often, the squeaky wheel gets oil. You have been very patient, which IS admirable.

He does not just import 1 rifle, he brings a shipment in at various times of the year. It will show up sooner or later. I don't mind shooting in the cold weather. Usually have the range to myself but almost certain at below 32F.

Not guessing is good for you, RR. Also the different stances and holds for your revolver and rifle look like much fun. You are definitely shooting better each time out on the range.

As far as reloading 45 Colt and loading pez, good job on both!
