new lot # of CCI Standards

Post by bandit1250 » Wed Jun 01, 2016 11:21 am

Went to my LGS yesterday to look for some scope rings for my friend. When I got there the front door window was boarded up. I thought "Now what?
They had a break in over the holiday but the alarm system did it's job and scared them off with no losses. Well any way I saw some CCI on the shelf and asked if he could sell a case and he said yes. I thought then maybe I shouldn't have asked. So I spent my car insurance money on ammo.
Oh well if I don't pay it by the end of June I will ride my bicycle. ;) Could not wait to get home to run some through a few rifles to see how it would do. For get the word "few" in the above sentence. With such a nice day I just kept bringing out more rifles from the safe that usually do good with the CCI. (Henry Frontier also) The new lot shot well in more than just a few and looks to be a good lot. I shot at 35yds. now the ground in the lower part of my yard is drying out. (More rain forecast) I have a few pictures of rifles used and targets shot. All targets were with the new ammo except where it is marked with a different lot. The new lot is any with no number or X82. I actually used to many rifles but wanted to take advantage of the weather we are having. Some times the hot weather with high humidity the rim fires can be finicky on their consistency on paper. I got the case OTD for $360. Not bad even if I do end up on the bicycle.

impressive .... to feed so many rifles, its easy to see why you need to buy ammo by the case .... :D

I will post targets later. For some reason it won't let me post more than a few pictures at a time. Have any ideas?

CCI standard vel are the most accurate .22s I've gotten my mitts on. Noticeably so.

I am fairly certain you will have some folks drooling over the beautiful rifles. And possibly for seeing a whole case on .22 ammo. I am seeing normal amounts on store shelves again in this neck of the woods.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

Money well spent to accommodate that epic range trip... and many more by the looks of it.

Have you had a chance to try Norma Tac. That stuff really brings out the best in some rifles. It is not a match grade high dollar ammo but very good. I don't care for the greasy stuff on it but it does a good job on paper. I think Sir Henry also likes it.

Riding a bicycle will be most healthful, Bandit!

If we started a Forum thread about what we do with rifles, and titled it "Yesterday's Insanity," there would probably be more posted than just your story! And I bet you had fun "being insane" for a while, didn't you? ;)

Lots of very nice wood stocks on that table top.....

The third rifle up is a '65 Remington 512X. The X models were the transition models from the original 510-511 and 512 series until the change to the 580 series. They were made about 3 years or so. All had grooved receivers and up dated sights. I sold the front and rear sights from this rifle for more than I paid for the complete rifle with the sights. I hated the looks of the ugly sights. Sights sold on e-bay for $189. This rifle had some great wood under the factory finish and I couldn't wait to refinish it and bring out that grain.

I have no clue since I don't post pictures online.

My MT husband, not my late husband, did post pictures for me in the past of OUR firearms, targets and scenery on his two former forums and on another forum years ago but he does not post online any longer. He has not posted any place for many years.

He had to put some old rifle, knife and camping pictures in an email for me so I could send them to a lady friend in Canada in the past too.

Take care.

Thanks bandit for the info and the pm. It is truly a fine piece of wood, and it shoots pretty darn good too.
You have a nice selection of rifles there, and by the photo you sent they're some good shooters also.
Congrats.
I haven't shot any of my 22 lrs in quite a while. I did shoot my Marlin 25 mn last Sun. That's a 22 mag for those that don't know. It likes the CCI 30 grs. the best, the 40 gr is a close second.
Now the search is on for more 30 grs.

Thanks for sharing didn't mean to derail your thread with that last statement.

Nice collection of firearms. Buying ammo was smart. Who ever heard of an insurance shortage?
