My Henry 1860 is getting a workout this week. Sent another 50 rounds downrange today. 200 gr LRNFP, 6.6 gn Universal. A nice easy load to shoot. Great for 50 yard work, which is all of these targets today. Shooting from 1 knee as usual except the last 2 rounds shot off hand standing. Open sights. 75F, and a little breezy. Guess I shoot my one and only rifle so much that I am starting to adjust for the breeze without thinking as much about it as I used to. Like I have said before, I shoot best when I just shoot.

8" targets all.

24 rounds. 1 round in each card, and the rest on the target. The cards were 1 each side of the target, and 2 below it when I tacked them to the board. Shooting low, but correct it on next targets.

Last 2 rounds, off hand standing (don't shoot that way too much, not sure why...)

prior to rolling your own, you fired a large number of rounds of factory ammo .... in thinking back, I'd appreciate hearing your comments as to differences in performance

That's great that your Henry is getting a solid workout, RR. That means more cool photos for all of us to admire with our oohs and aahs! The 50-yard holes appearing in those playing cards sure is a nice "cut" of the deck.

Keep on "just shooting" --- it "suits" you fine! :)

I think my own reloads shoot more consistent. I have not shot a box of Winchester ammo for quite awhile I should open up my other cabinet and try a box. That was my go-to ammo early on.

consistency with your ammo is without question .... I'm really looking forward to seeing how it performs in your coming rifle .... it would be very interesting to contrast your ammo with the Winchesters

RR, you go right ahead and keep that lead flying for those of us who haven't been able to get out and shoot, more. You're upholding the lever gun shooting end of this forum, you know. Tough job, but you're the cowboy to do it. (And, hey, we will count that new 1885 as a lever gun when you finally get it, because, well, it does have a lever. Works for me, anyway.)
