On the trail of the massive herds of buffalo on the northern plains this time of year...(not)...
Dakota and I saddle up for adventure tracking these big shaggies...

...maybe make a new coat for winter and a buffalo hide to throw over the bunk. Finally came across some moving south, must be migrating before the snow flies...

50 rounds through the Henry, 6.6 gn Universal powder, 200 gr LRNFP. The wind was coming straight at us out of the east today, maybe 15 mph. As you can see, lots of drop as I try to find the right elevation with the sights. Approx 20 or so rounds are centered not too bad, but most are low. 1-knee position, open sights as usual.
It's tough! Even this 12" ring is a dot out there.

sure glad you didn't go after the white one ..

.. a white one gave Wild Bill (AKA : Charles Bronson) a fit a while back ..

.. curious, what distance ..

Your "little buffalo hunt" shows that you can easily make a
"new coat for winter and a buffalo hide to throw over the bunk."
No matter what
plain you're on, RR, you'll always
gain shooting that Henry

figured that to be the case .... 100 yards into a headwind .... impressive ammo and marksman as well

It wan't much of a headwind, but I don't think it takes much to play havoc with 45 Colt lead at that distance. Maybe getting 1100 fps out of the rifle.

agree .... 44 & 45 pistol bullets aren't known for having a high ballistics coefficient
