Just took a box of 20 rounds of Hornady 255 gr LFN to the range tonight. 15 rounds at 50 yds and just for extra fun, last 5 rounds at 100 yds. Off hand all, standing. Same way I always shoot. Not a bad night, no wind. I'm ok with results, correcting the left pull. The 100 yd; 3 hit wood but only 2 on paper. But one was a keeper!! :D
On the 100 yd range I have to set my rear sight to the top notch if I even want to have a hope of hitting paper I've found. But it's still a tough one. My 59 year old eyes aren't what they used to be...Still it is fun to go for it.

Sweet shooting sir, 100 yards open sights off hand with a lever gun. I would be thrilled to even be able to get close to hitting paper.

I heard all 5 smack the wood backboard, but only 2 on target. Man, it's a long way, I wouldn't want my life riding on a hundred yard shot...

what he said .. :D

for a person to appreciate just how far 100 yards is, looking down a barrel with open sights will get the message across about as quickly as I know of

Agree with Retired Seabee..very nice results at 100-yards. Keep after those 5-round groups, and you'll see all 5 as POIs on your target.
Way to "go for it!"

The best part? You had fun. :D

As a new shooter, I must say, this is great fun. Maybe being new and not having much of a point of reference helps someone to be a fearless shooter. :)
