Good Day Shooting!

Got out today with a friend I had not been shooting with for a while.
Not anything real 'formal' but a lot of just offhand pistol shooting and a little rifle.
I did manage to get my 26" Winchester 100 year Commemorative dialed in with the globe sight I bought from Esquared a while back. I only had eight rounds for it but got it dead nuts on and will get more ammo loaded up for it for a better range report later.
AND FWIW this friend of mine is deadly! He was hitting a 5 gal LP tank at 120+ yards with his 6" Ruger .44 Mag Redhawk six out of six !!! - And while standing ....
Otherwise a good day but we had to quit at about noon as it was getting pretty warm! - 73 - but thats warm for us!
Interestingly my friend told me he is buying a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible AND thinking about an 'Original' 1860 Henry.

Good for you both. Glad you got out for some fun.

As for the Ruger 45 Colt/45 ACP, I recommend one, highly, for their super versatility and accuracy with both cartridges.

Was shooting in the Shasta woods. Not hot at all, but bright sun and high UV, made it uncomfortable after awhile. Glad you had a good time! I know I did!

Yep - along with the Redhawk my friend already has a Blackhawk and a SIngle Six - both early three screw models and just wants to 'round out' his collection.
It will be interesting for me as well as his (when he gets one) will be the FIRST .45 Colt I will ultimately fire!
Yep - I have NEVER shot a .45 Colt ever!

Sounds like a fun day, Ed, and glad to hear that the globe is dialed in to your liking. It's fun experimenting with different inserts depending on the conditions, sight picture, target configuration, etc. Takes under a minute to swap 'em out. Great system. Highly recommend the Shaver inserts, if you're so inclined.

Look forward to your buddy getting that Redhawk convertible. Should be a blast to shoot in 45 Colt. Great way to start. Who knows, you might get the bug for a 45 Colt lever...

Actually it will be a BLACKHAWK - he already has a Redhawk in .44 mag!

Probably not. IF I were interested in this caliber arena I would go with a .44 Mag for the reload versatility but I am a fan of the .357 and don't want to add any 'new' calibers.

Oh, and tell your friend to stop thinking about it and to just go ahead and get that New Original Henry.
