This trim little beauty is really growing on me. No group photos to show, just offhand shooting at some cans and a few decent sized shards from clay pigeons past. Note to self- bring bug spray next time!
Did shoot a string over the chronograph to put some numbers to the hand load I'm using. Has shown to be very accurate, but hadn't checked the velocity until now:
1259
1277
1275
1266
1262
1279
1277
1244
1283
1253
Average 1268 fps, standard deviation 13 fps, extreme spread 39 fps. 158 grain Zero jacketed soft points over 6.7 grains HP-38 with a CCI magnum primer. A bit more than a cat sneeze load, but still on the light side & fairly cheap to assemble. Speed is ~80-90 fps above what would be interpolated from Hodgdon's load data, but barrel length was 18.5" for their testing. The extra 3.5" barrel on the Henry must account for some if not all of that.
Did get a couple hero shots of the rifle.
