Well howdy folks. Sunny, 60F and windy. Cross wind about 30mph today at the range.
After much thinking and ruminatin' about reloading.....here are my first reloads. 8 rounds thru my 1860 Henry at 50 yards. 8" target.

Off hand standing/sweating/praying.

6.5 to 6.7 gr of Universal. 250 gr LRNFP bullet. 2nd time fired brass.

Success! 8 big bangs and 8 holes to match. No shrapnel flying at all. Not bad for a windy day and have not shot for a few weeks. Thanks for all the help gang.

as usual, good shooting .... what were your impressions as to recoil, general feel, sound, etc .. .. how about residue left in your rifle .. ..

Sounds like fun, and that rifle is a thing of beauty for sure. Here’s hoping mine can somehow achieve that look someday as well.

First impressions; sound seemed same as usual although I was in the shed shooting out so a bit more cannon-like. Had electronic headphones on. Recoil was same as normal, not much. Bullets hit the wood with authority. Rounds chambered very slick, ejected fine. Nothing out of the ordinary for residue around the chamber or lifter. All good from what I can tell. I would say that powder load is good.

Me and Badger both knew ya could do it. Looks good RR now how does it feel after all that back and forth of should I do it or should I buy it.

Seems good. I will load a bunch tomorrow. Although that money would have bought a nice 1885 low wall....

no surprise whatsoever but delighted to hear it .... looking forward to your reports on using them in your wheelgun ....

RR, I've really enjoyed reading about your journey into reloading. Congrats on a great job on the reloading and, as always, the shooting.

Nice shooting sir. I'm glad the reloading is going well. I'm planning to do that for .45 LC also.

I'm interested to hear how it shoots in the revolver as well.
