We decided to upgrade the sight picture for our 44Mag Single and after trying out a couple of different rear and front sight setups, we finally settled on a Skinner Low-Pro on the rear and a .404" Lyman Globe 17A on the front.

So, it was off to the hay field to sight it in:

It took four shots/three adjustments to get close enough to the bull at 25 yds, then we shot four more for a 5 shot group.

Results were good enough for our needs (big bore plinking). The rifle seems to like Federal 240g JHP, which is what we usually shoot in all our 44's. Everybody liked to shoot this rifle before we changed the sights, but now everybody really likes it because it is hard to miss at 25 yds with this sight setup - it always brings a smile when you bang those steel gongs with a 44.....

Tad, you're the Skinner/Lyman wizard around here, and this one looks great! Can't beat that group, huh? It's fun/interesting to swap in different inserts on the Lyman.
Thanks for sharing!

Good looking set-up. I like that minimalist rear sight; I've wondered about them. Obviously, you can make 'em work :) .

Have always admired the simplicity of Skinner sights, too. Have used the Lo Pro on several guns.

Tad has all the single shots and all the cool stuff. Nice Tad do you reload for the 44 at all or just use factory ammo

So far we have only used factory ammo, but we have everything we need to reload(bullets, cases, powder, primers, dies, press, powder measure, etc.) - just have to get started with all of it....
