Range Report -- Off Day

As promised, here are the targets of my day at the range on Thursday after being away for more than a month. I shot 150 rounds of .357s, 75 in each of my two guns, a Henry H006M and an Uberti SmokeWagon revolver. These are the targets from the Henry. I only shoot off hand, standing. All were handloads, 25 158 gr. LSWCs and 50 125 gr. JSPs.

I have done better. Actually, I've done lots better. It was an off day after a long time away. But, I did have a lot of fun, in spite of the results on paper. :D

Shooting offhand takes a lot of practice. I actually practiced my stance and hold a lot at home testing out different techniques. Remember the amount of time you are actually holding and aiming is short compared to the complete range time. You can be at the range for two hours and only be aiming and shooting for a small fraction of that time. By practicing at home I can get in eight hours of range time "holds" in an hour. Plus standing there aiming with no intension of firing lets you concentrate on your hold. We all tend to practice too much trigger time without remembering the full shooting picture.

I goofed and scanned one of the JSP targets twice, but you get the idea anyway. The missing target was similar. Thanks for the encouragement and the advice, Sir Henry. I'll try that technique.

I looked at all three targets and didn't even notice.

Off day -- NOT!
Targets look quite good after resting your trigger finger for over a month, CT.
Again, "having lots of fun" is where it really ends up for the best. ;)

Yeah, we can all hope to achieve similar results. Thanks for a good demonstration of holding a sight picture.

Looks like you got more on than off to me.
I love shooting my little single action revolver. It needs a big brother like your Smoke Wagon.

Love punching paper! We all have off days, but then you have that day and it seems like you just can't miss.
