First Match of 2019

Shot Smallbore Lever Action Silhouette at the Los Angeles Silhouette Club today. It been months since I shot seriously and LASC HAS the only local sanctioned match.
There were 7 small bore shooters, 4 shot Henry H001Ts.
Without a spotter I had an impossible time sighting in. The recent rain prevented the dust we usually have to show were it went when you miss. Had a great time any ways.
Score;
3 Chickens, 5 pigs, 0 turkeys, 5 rams.
Shot the 1958 39 Mountie it shoots. Same sighting issues.
Also tried a new 45-70 350 Berry plated over 16g Trail Boss. Easily shoots out to 200yds.
They have a well stocked reloading store in the Range Complex. I found and bought some Speer 35 Remington bullets, 180 and 220s.
I was in the SF Valley so I stopped by my Son's house and saw my Granddaughter.
Then stopped by two LGS.
LIKE WHAT A DAY!
Shooting, gun stores and my Granddaughter a trifecta!

I've been trying to get a consistent low pressure load for 45-70.
Started with H4198 at less than 60% fill would at times drop, or to high left or right.
I looked at and some H4895 but I want a 1150fps and H4895 can't deliver that.
So I'm trying a near max load of Trailboss. Today was just 5 shots but it lobed those 350g Plated Barry's hitting the 50yrd chicken swingers and the 100yrd pig swingers. And a 350grain bullets kicks up a lot of wet sand so I could see were the went when I missed.
I'll need shoot them a lot more.

I shot my Henry Octagon today for the match . I Had to reset all the targets I hit and was able to see were I was connecting. The rifle did a fine job and I'm very happy with it.

Yeah, I remember those *#@* turkeys all too well from my silhouette shooting days. Tricky little buggers.

Glad you had such a great time, though. Minus 18, at breakfast this morning for us, so I won't be hitting the range anytime soon.

I shot my first rimfire silhouette on 1/12/19...I shot a 37 out of 40 (missed 2 turkeys and 1 ram). I won the smallbore...with my H001TLB. A friend of mine and I tied the pistol cartridge with 31's. The shoot Boss gave that win to my friend as he had more rams than I....BobGinVA
PS: I shoot a Marlin CB in 45C for that match.
