BBS Carbine 2nd range day

I put another 75 rounds down range today with the BBS 357 magnum carbine. I had to sight it in again because I flipped the rear sight insert around to the plain black side. The white diamond is not painted on in line with the notch. That was very confusing to my eye so I flipped it. Long story short, I made a few adjustments and got it pretty close at 25 yards. I have to cover the bullseye with the brass bead to hit where I want. It’s still favoring slightly to the right. The rifle did well with one exception. The last round seems to nosedive and hang up most of the time. This happened no matter how many rounds I loaded. I tried 8,7,5 and 3 rounds in the magazine. It hung up maybe 50-75% of the time but only on the last round. Could this be an issue with the mag tube? Any ideas?
At any rate, I had a great time shooting and ended up with a couple of really good (for me) targets at 25 yards. The brass bead completely covers the 3” sticker at 25 yards and the 6” sticker at 50 yards. That bead was not meant for precision shooting.

Great shooting deano. You can always drift that rear sight to the left a little to get youre windage more to the center.

Can't see how the mag tube should have anything to do with it as long as round is chambered???...strange.

Good shooting! I think both PT7 and CurtZHP had something like that happening to them where there was a issue with the last round. Hopefully they will see this and respond.

Chambering was just one of the problems I had with the BBS .357 carbine. Sorry I can't help on the issue or a resolution. After a couple of service trips to & from Henry, the rifle was never completely repaired. I ended the process and returned the rifle for a refund, not knowing what the bottom line was on the problems.
Best with getting your "nosedive" resolved, Deano. That first target of yours was
excellent, even with the distraction of the FTF. Good job.

No, I used Monarch/PPU 158gr SJHP and Federal American Eagle 158gr JSP. It only hangs up on the last round but not every time.

I had the same issue with our BBS 44 Mag .... I sent it back to Henry, they replaced the extractor that pulls the bullet out of the chamber and the spring ejector on the other side that kicks the shell out of the ejection port .... for me, those were the logical parts to replace .... the next time out after getting it back from Henry, the outer magazine tube failed (picture below) .... in looking at the barrel attached ring that secured the outer tube, it appeared to me that the outer tube had moved forward slightly, the angle of the picture doesn't show it .... in addition the O-ring on the inner tube was gone .... shipped it back to Henry .... we just got it back and fired 150 rounds .... rifle performed flawlessly .... I've done a great deal of thinking about it and have come up with several possibilities but no firm conclusions .... right now I believe that the failure in the outer tube and the O-ring missing contributed (if not caused) the original ejection issue .... why

, I really can't answer .... coincidence

, possibly

Wow! That’s a nasty looking failure! The issue with mine is not extracting or ejecting. The last round wants to nose dive and not chamber. It happens maybe 50-75% of the time. It comes up with the lifter but I have to shake the rifle a bit to get it to chamber. I don’t understand why only the last round would do that. That’s why I thought maybe it had something to do with the inner mag tube or follower. They both look fine, though. I’m hoping that issue will go away with more use. I really don’t want to have to send it back to Henry if I don’t need to. I’ll give it more time and rounds down range before I make that decision.

I’m going to try to get to the range again today and do just that.

after firing literally 10's of thousands of rounds, ours got to where the bolt would pull the last one out of the chamber and the ejector would kick the front of the case out the ejection port .... that is where it would hang .... sounds like different condition from what your rifle is experiencing .... as a suggestion, make sure that when you work the lever, make sure you do so with authority .... easing the lever open doesn't seem to work well with a Henry .... with yours happening part of the time, the way the lever is worked could come into play

Hey that is GREAT shooting with those groups! Does tilting the rifle upward help with the last round?

Regarding the splitting mag tube... My carbine has a thicker machined steel support bracket which has the locking slot cut into it.
Looks like it takes the pressure of the spring loaded tube rather than just the slot in the thin wall mag tube.
Is this an improvement that was made or just the way the 16.5 inch barrel rifles are made?

My BBS has the same support bracket. It is the full 20" barrel.

If I remember correctly, that’s how I get it to chamber.

The problem I was having was not a nosedive. It was that the last spent shell would not eject without help. That last round would chamber and fire just fine, just wouldn't eject.
