Reloads on target

This is from my first outing with my reloads. All were XTP FP bullets with varying loads of 2400 powder. I started at 10.5, and worked up to 14.5.

It was a sunny day with only light wind in my face. The target was set at 50 yds, slightly downhill. I shot from a picnic table, using a rolled towel to support my forend hand. Elbow on the rear.

The Henry Steel Carbine 357 was fitted with a Bushnel Banner 1.5-4. I fired about 50 rounds. Other targets were similar to this one.

Without getting into which load performed which way, I just want to point out the similarity of the point of impact for all of them. At 50 yards, it would seem the only difference would seem to be the impact of the velocity.

With the obligatory flyers, I still had decent grouping from all the test items.

My next outing will be using zero 158 grain hollowpoint bullets. It will be a mixture of 2400 powder and H110

nice .... my best guess is the Zeros will do well .... with H110 they should really perform .... with the results already shown, you should soon be to the point of fine tuning your load

Very interested in your 2400 results.
I bought some recently to develope loads using 125gr and 158gr plated Barry's.
Several combinations loaded, 9.3 gr to 12 gr, just need to get to the range.
Rain in the low lands and snow in the mountains.

We need the moisture but hold our breath that it won't make it more difficult for those all ready dealing with tragedy.

That's some good shooting, Cofisher. Going forward, to be clear, you're of course not mixing these two powders in a single round; I assume you'll be using separate cases for each of them. It will be interesting to see how the two powders differ in your next range report. I look forward to it. Thanks.

Next time out the chronograph will be used. I should learn more there.

Ojaileveraction, I will get you more info on the 2400 results. I still have rounds in several different loading. I will chrony them all. I will also do some factory ammo to compare.

I'll also be using a Caldwell rest for future testing. Hope to remove some of the operator error. Really enjoying this.

Actually, I jumped to 15 grn. I have about 100 rounds ready to make one big hole. Will let you know how that comes out.

You are correct, except for that one.

All my Rossi 357 gets is lead so I don't know.
10.8 and a 180 gr cast are deadly out to 100 yds.
