Range Report: SGC's and Mare's leg

I had a fun day at the range today. Warm, sunny, no wind and not a lot of people made it enjoyable. I shot these firearms.

The scoped rifle is the same scope that I shot last week on the CZ which gave me a .149" group at 25 yards.

And this was the ammo I was shooting.

After sighting in the scope I shot these four targets.

Edit: this target was .603"

I then set the targets out to 50 yards and was going to shoot the scoped Henry and for some reason picked up the peep'd rifle so shot it.

Overall I didn't do very well. I did poorly with the scoped rifle but did okay with the peep'd one.

You did ok, don't be too hard on yourself. Just so you had fun and you had your Henry's with you. :D

Gene I have used a phrase for years " Some days Peanuts, some days Shells".
The way you shoot I would be happy with your "Shells" days.
I know you will work through whatever issues were off for you today and be shooting "Peanuts" soon enough.

I mistyped the one group. I had it at .063 in the picture but it should have been .603". In comparison the CZ with the same scope shot a .149" last week.

I think you said the most important part of your day, right at the top, Sir Henry: "I had a fun day at the range today."
Nothing better than that!! :)

Personally, I liked the 1.563" Norma Tac-22 group done with the SGC & peeps....great rifle!
Glad you had fun!

I had three separate range reports really. Shooting the SGC & peeps was almost easier. The Weaver scope has parallax set at 60 yards so shooting closer gave me problems but it was the same problems with both rifles.

The third part of the day was shooting the M'sLg bench and offhand. I wanted to shoot the rifle offhand too but the gang wanted to go to lunch. The Tuesday shoot & eat group is back.

I have two .22LR, two .22WMR Henry Mare's Legs and a Rossi Ranch Hand in 357/38. Shooting 357 in a Ranch Hand certainly isn't plinking around but the kick isn't anything special. I do like the fact the Rossi is a gate loader.

with the weight of a Mare's Leg that is pretty much what I'd expect .... response appreciated

Just keep living through your range reports, SH.

If the darn rain would stop, maybe they could finish the work on our range and reopen it. It has been closed since April 12 and I am having some serious withdrawl problems!

I hear that, White Squirrel. I haven't been shooting since my SmokeWagon revolver malfunctioned. The gunsmith turned it around in a quick week, but it's been more than a month since I've had an opportunity to return to the range. Sometimes, life (and a stretch of rainy days) gets in the way of having fun. Tomorrow may be my first opportunity. :)

Our range was closed during the day for about nine months. Then just a couple weeks ago it re-opened and I'm getting my moneys worth.

They are soooo close to being done, but we have had rain for five straight days. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be overcast and then five more days of rain. Considering one of the problems they are trying to fix is improved drainage, I guess they are getting to test it out as they go along.

Very comprehensive range report Sir Henry. Nice shooting too I thought. Thanks for posting the results.
