25F today and snowing, but I wanted to shoot so I did. My 1860 Henry, 45 Colt. Ammunition is Western Ammo made in Calgary. 250 gr LFN is all I shoot.

I bought some 6" target sheets and just cycled through the 4 targets.

50 yds....Off hand, standing, open sights. I normally shoot 8" targets so these were definitely a little tougher to see the bullseye on. This is 40 rounds. Not sure why I had a box with just 40 in it, must have shot 10 in the pistol awhile back or something. Anyhow, used them up. No wind to speak of, just a very grey day with snow falling. They put new sliding doors on the range sheds so the snow won't drift in them like other years. Should be able to shoot all winter...I draw the line at -20F though... Hope you enjoyed the report, shoot safe & often!

-20 .. .. draw the line indeed .... the powder in our shells would probably be tooooo cold to ignite at such a temperature ..

That is so cold that I think at -20 you'd be shooting .22s out of the .45.

Of course I enjoyed the report, just like I always do, RR. Honestly, those targets are pretty enough to frame.

We're getting snow, too. Really need to get out and shoot, too. My indoor air gun shooting tends to keep me from venturing out to shoot when it gets really cold, though.

I like to shoot from 1 knee position too. There's something "buffalo hunter" about it that gives me that old plainsman feeling......not to mention I shoot better.

...............and to think we got up to 80° here today! Nice shootin'.

That is some fine 40 shot standing offhand iron sight shooting!

Always easy to be rootin' for your shootin', RR --- another hurrah session for some great off hand POIs!

The one thing I notice with every Range Report you post is the consistency of your shootin' skill. That also says a lot, because the weather conditions you shoot under are very inconsistent. Your results are regularly spot-on...good job again!

Curious as to why you "draw the line at -20F?" The coldest outdoor session I've shot was at 16* actual temp with wind chills that day sub-zero temp. Although I really don't mind cold weather, the chattering teeth got in the way of my concentration that early morning at the range. I know your cowhand work does keep you outdoors all the time...I'd like to find out what temps do you enjoy the most?

Actually I was joking with the -20. I think the coldest range day I had last winter was around zero F. That was cold enough. Hard on arthritic hands.
I guess if I put 50 rounds thru fast enough I could sit and enjoy the warm glow of my rifle barrel....maybe toast some marshmallows.
