Wind dropped for awhile today so I went to the range. I was going to clean my guns but shooting them is much more fun so I'll clean another day...45F today.

My cowboy guns; Henry 1860 45 Colt & 1871 Colt Richards conversion 45 Colt. Both from Cimarron / Uberti. Ammunition was Western Ammo remanufactured made in Calgary Alberta. 250 gr LFN. 50 rounds. 8" targets.

25 rounds with revolver at 25 yds, 1 hand, pretty happy with this pistol target today, most in the 5.5" circle and ok groups in or near the bullseye. Sure is a fun revolver to shoot with the hammer notch rear sight and that long 8" barrel. 25 rounds with the rifle, 50 yds off hand standing, open sights. Very happy with this target, one of my best I think. Rifle performed flawlessly as usual. That's all for now, happy trails.

Thanks JEBar. It is the only pistol I have shot other than a BB gun so I don't know any different. But shooting the same pistol every time maybe helps.

Excellent targets one more time, RR. Glad you had better wind conditions today and you were able to have a good range day.

I also liked JEBar's comment on your hammer notch rear sight. I recall that you posted a rear sight view photo for us one time, RR. So I just realized something. On my Russian top break, the very, very tiny football-goal-looking rear sight resembles your hammer notch sight. Fixed and small iron sight. I wondered how you could sight accurately with your revolver's sight.

Now I know. It's the best rear sight of all the revolvers I've ever had. And surprisingly easy to use. Simple works excellently.
As far as your hammer notch configuration, easily confirmed by those shredded splash targets!

Some of your best work, for sure. That is really some fine shooting, RR. Save those targets. They're keepers.

no maybe to it .... you spend considerable quality time practicing with your 45's .... the positive results are clear

Hey RR, I've been thinking that shooting of yours.
Sometime this long weekend coming up I want to try that myself.
Got a Marlin Cowboy and a Ruger Vaquero in 45 colt.
Heck may even do it with the Henry BBB and another Vaquero in 44 Mag.

Hope the wind lies down fer a spell here in a few days, and you get that chance.
