At the risk of putting everyone asleep, here's yet another Contender report. Will keep this one long on pics and short on words, though. Hope that helps. All shot, today.

1. Contender pistol with 10" octagonal barrel 38 Special with vintage Bushnell 1.3x scope. Remington factory 158 grain LRN 38s. One of my favorite rigs.


Hard to miss with this one.



2. Contender stainless carbine rig with 16.25" 22 Hornet barrel shooting bulk, locally manufactured 22 Hornet ammo. Scope is an excellent Nikon EFR 3-9x

3. Contender carbine with 21" 22 LR Match barrel. Scope is a Leupold Rimfire 2-7x. Maybe my favorite rifle, period. So easy to shoot.

One of my best groups of the summer. Like I said, easy to shoot.

Next time, back to more mainstream guns. Now you know, though, why I shoot Contenders so much.

Expert targets as usual. While those guns would not be my cup of tea, you sure know how to use them.

Happy to see you got some good weather to get some range time. As usual beautiful guns and targets.

Excellent shooting, and great target & firearms photos. Never even thought of a yawn.

Actually that carbine is pretty cool.

So 1.7" @ 50yds would come out to <3.5 MOA standing?
A lot of "guns" won't do that from a rest.

Funny how you can shoot a gun platform for so many years, ignoring one branch of it for decades, then suddenly "discover" it. That's the way it has been for me with the Contender rifle/carbines. I've know there were Contender carbines and rifles for many, many years, but I only thought of Contenders in the more familiar view of them being handguns. It's only been the last couple of years where I actually started to shoot Contenders in a carbine. Just happened to pick up a Contender carbine at an estate sale, then decided, why not give it a try? Been busy converting (legally) Contender pistols to Contender Carbines ever since. The carbines make absolutely glorious offhand shooters and are the very essence of a carbine in their short, light, and sweet handling.

Believe it or not, the Contender carbines are my favorite offhand shooters, now. I can even shoot them, offhand, better than my CZs. That unusual design of the Contender carbine/rifle allows me to tuck in tighter than I can with more traditionally stocked guns. Was not expecting that at all when I started to shooting them.
