We stated out shooting at 200 yards but it was very windy and my best groups were about a foot wide. Then we went to the 100 yard range that was more protected from the wind.

My groups were smaller but still nothing to write home about. The bench I was shooting from was way too tall and I didn’t have a rest other than an ammo box. My friend had a bipod and I used it and the groups shrunk a lot but was still in the two inch range. Then I went prone and everything came together.

This was my best five round target. The .6565” group was short of my quarter inch goal but was respectably. I was shooting a CZ 452 2E wearing a Weaver Classic V-24 scope. I didn’t get around to shooting the Henry.

Yup, a .6565” group is quite respectable. Good results, SH.
I shoot Hornady ammo often....quality stuff.

Haven't seen a photo of your laaarge-loop Henry in a while. Looks good a-settin' on your Henry-orange case.
BTW, trust the coffee cup was in a prominent place on the shooting bench?

CZ make excellent rifles, and a sub-MOA group in less than favourable circumstances is good shooting!

The bipod was made for shooting prone and was at the right height. It clipped on to the front sling swivel and not the barrel so it didn’t effect the point of impact. It was hot but no wind at 100 so I can’t blame it on anything but the shooter. The only thing lacking was my cup of coffee.

I think you are being a little hard on yourself. Nice shooting! Nice looking rifle also.

That's an excellent 100 yard group for any 17 HMR under even the best of conditions. In my book, anytime you can squeeze under an inch at 100 with a rimfire, you've beat the odds. As for the CZ, I can understand why you never got around to shooting another gun you brought, along. Been there many times with the CZs. By the way, those 452 Americans are getting hard to find, now. Hang on to that one.

Thanks Joanie, I shot 12 targets at 100 and had several three round groups touching but would choke up and pull the last two. This rifle is capable of getting sub quarter inch groups at 100.

Tomorrow we plan on going to a different closer range that only goes out to 92 yards. I plan on shooting the Henry SGC and Uberti Cattleman.

Not shooting the Henry...Blasphemy.

A good HMR will shoot Moa with most ammo but small groups with the HMR are about lucking onto a batch of ammo that your rifle really likes.
I had never worried about any of the 20gr loads until I had difficulty getting 17gr's and tried some CCI 20gr. Pic is the first 3 groups at 100m with 3 different shooters, 2" target with the inner circle 1"

Your observations on the 17 resemble mine. I think it's the best of the rimfire bunch for 100 yard work. Those are some great groups, 220.

I noticed on two of the targets that three rounds were touching and then two rounds wide. I would be interested in the sequence because I can often get the first three rounds touching like that making a sub quarter inch but choke up after that. I’ve often said I’m a three hit wonder.

And if you have one, take along your tin coffee mug!!
