I'm really looking forward to getting out tomorrow and sending a some rounds down range .... we have a small group of family and friends slated to be there .... the range is owned by one of our sons and is still very much in its early stage of development .... we are really looking forward to meeting Mike (The Wiz) who is visiting our area .... as an X-Army Sniper, I'm sure we will lean a great deal from him .... they are calling for the temp to be in the low 70's with no rain mentioned ..

.. hopefully, we will be able to post a few targets, pictures and comments

Shoot up a bunch for me. We'll be below zero for highs by Christmas. There was a day when I would still shoot in that kind of cold, but, hey, I'm older, now.

Being older is a privilege not afforded to everyone. Enjoy.

I was thinking of heading to the range also. It is overcast but should reach 37 by noon.

we just got back from spending about 4 hours on our oldest son's range .... the trucks were parked so as to give is a 40 +/- yard shooting distance .... in the time we were there be fired a thousand +/- rounds .... targets were skeet placed in a bank, suspended metal bottles, and metal spinners .... no paper targets on this trip .... the third picture shows
Mike (The Wiz) our Henry BBS 44 Mag .... he also got an up-close, personal introduction to our 45-70 ..

.. and his wife live in Illinois and are in the process of moving to our area so as to be closer to their children .... they will be a good addition to our community .... Mike is on the left .... the last picture shows our youngest son firing our BBS 44 Mag .... we really had a good time

Where's the snow? Just kidding. Looks like a great time. I'm just a bit jealous to see people not all bundled up and shivering.

It's good to see you folks having such a great time at your son's private range. Awesome.

best guess, 250 +/- rounds combined in our Henry 44 Mag, 357 Mag, and 45-70 .... another 50+ in a Ruger Redhawk 44 Mag .... who knows how many rounds of 223's in several AR's .... hundreds more 22's .... well over a 100 308's in a couple of AR's and a BLR .... several hundred 9 mm's in various semi autos ....25 +/- 300 WBY's .... yep, well over a thousand rounds ...

Thanks for posting the story and photos. One thousand rounds, and now back to the reloading bench.

Indeed, it was a great day. What I will remember the most, is a family atmosphere that was there. Going down range with the kids to put up skeet, the two girls (5 or 6 yrs?, both shooters) more interested in playing queen of the hill, Jacob (9 or 10yrs?) seriously placing each target just so. Watching all three shooting with their dad's coaching ( not so much Jacob, the kid is pretty good already) with grandpa watching. Pretty cool stuff.
Of course, there was the shooting. I believe JEBar cleaned out his armory for us to shoot and his sons brought their stuff. I would say a thousand + rounds would be good guess with all the .22's going down range with goodly helping of .357 ' s from me and Jacob. I not sure which son Jacob belongs to, but his parents are doing a great job in raising him.
Like I said I really enjoyed trying out all the different guns , well maybe not the .45-70. That thing is a beast! Especially when Jim (JEBar) put some hot rounds in that not even him had shot. I nearly dropped the rifle on the recoil. He just stood there with a little grin on his face. Might be a little mean streak in that man.

It was a hoot to shoot it.
Thanks for having me. It reinforces my decision to relocate knowing I already have meant some good people.

Nice - really nice. There is little in life more satisfying (or more American) than plinking with family and friends on your own land. Well done, Jim and Mike.
