Mixed bag on yesterday's rage session. Will mostly let the pics do the talking.

CZ 452 Supermatch 22 LR with Ultradot 25 red dot. Had such good luck using a red dot on another CZ when shooting from the bench, thought I would try using a red dot on another CZ for offhand 50 yard work. LOVE it.





My "long range" 357 TC. It's a G2 Contender wearing a 12" 357 mag barrel and excellent TC 2.5-7x scope.




Here's a vintage Contender wearing a 70s vintage octagon barrel in 30 M1 wearing a vintage Bushnell 1.3x scope. That's a lot of vintage, but that 30 M1 cartridge is one sweet shooter.

Great shooting. Is the 30 M1 a carbine or 30.06? To me an M1 is 30.06 and an M1 Carbine is of course a carbine.

It's the 30 Carbine cartridge, also sometimes called the 30 M1 (as marked on this Contender barrel) used in the M1 Carbine, not the 30-06 used in the M1 Garand rifle. The Contender is way too light to handle the 30-06. For the 30-06, you have to step up to the heavier Encore, which I have also shot. Way different shooting experience between the two cartridges in a handgun, believe me. The 30-06 Encore pistol is not for the faint of heart (but it is very accurate).

The 30 Carbine has also been a popular cartridge in the Ruger Blackhawk and is still offered in that revolver. Does very nicely in the Contender, too. Standard name brand 30 Carbine factory ammo is on a par with 357 mag for cost, but hoping to find some military surplus stuff even cheaper.

That's the beauty of the Contender platform. There's always another barrel in another cartridge you can shoot and play with. This one of many in our collection.

Thanks. Don't want to turn this into an M1 Carbine M1 thread but I've never heard the 30 Carbine referred to as a 30 M1. The M1 is always a Garand and if its the carbine its the M1 Carbine. And of course the round is a 30 Carbine.

It is interesting the Contender uses the 30 Carbine round as it was designed to take the place of a pistol. You don't see a lot of choices of firearms when it comes to the 30 Carbine.

You have certainly shot a lot more types of firearms than I have. It amazes me how much you and TGR know about a wide variety of firearms.

It's a fun cartridge, however you label it, though I suspect it's nowhere near as popular as it once was. Actually was a time when I thought having the rifle would be fun, but missed my chance back in the day when the little rifles were cheap and plentiful buy.
