To mark the National Day of the Cowboy weekend; some wild n wooly cowboy shootin'! Ideal conditions today....90F and a 30mph cross wind.... 
Oh well, go big or go home....Up first is the 1871 Cimarron Colt Richards open top conversion revolver in 45 Colt. 8" barrel, SA Army. A classic old timey frontier widow- maker.
Shot 30 rounds of Remington Target ammo, 250 gr LRN. 20 yards, standing, 1 hand....channeled my inner Wyatt Earp. The wind wasn't much of a factor I don't think at 20 yds, but this is one of my better pistol targets. A couple of weird wild ones, but I am starting to get it dialed in more often. It's a real beauty to shoot.
Next up is the 1860 Henry rifle, 45 Colt as well. 24 rounds of Winchester 250 gr LFN. Wind was a tough manage as it was gusting and not steady. 50 yards, off hand standing as I mostly like to shoot. I'm trying to get proficient at shooting this way. 12" target.
I ran out of targets, thought I had others in the truck but nope. So I just drew a quick circle on the cardboard and shot 10 rounds at 100 yards off hand standing. 6 on the paper, the rest went exit stage left. The wind had it's way with me. But for off hand standing shooting, I guess it's not the worst target I've done. 100 yards is always a challenge with open sights.
And last but not least, I had 4 rounds left over in a box I thought was empty. So, for National Cowboy day, I put 4 rounds on the wood backboard at 200 YARDS. Set the ladder sight on the 2nd notch, planted my boots and fired away. I was really surprised to see all 4 on the board. The wood was new so I know they were mine. I also snapped a pic from the board to the shed I shot from....long walk!!! Hard to see the holes, but I marked them 1-4.
Anyhow, that's my tribute to all the hard ridin' cowboys of old!
As Capt Augustus McRae raised his whiskey shot and toasted in Lonesome Dove "To the sunny slopes of long ago."
