Today was a beautiful day at the range. I struggled again with my 5 shot groups with the CZ 452, but did get one that was okay. Looks like about an inch to me:

Does that say 100 yards?

Ditto on RSb's question. At 100 yards, that is nothing but beautiful POIs to me!! I'd keep that target for sure.

I have a very underpowered, but very clear, Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 scope. In addition to having clear glass, it also stays sighted in, even though it gets toted around in the car to and from the range a lot.

That target, as well as many others I've shot, is interesting, as it shows how much harder it is to shoot 5 shot groups. Note that in my target there is a 3 shot group that is under a half inch. I even had one group today with 4 shots really tightly together, but a fifth shot was an outlier. Those 2 additional shots usually make things open up to at least an inch, an often 1.5 or more.

Again, though, it's definitely an addiction.

I've used 2-7x Nikons and Leopold on my rifles for 100 yard work and, sure, a bit more magnification doesn't hurt for bench shooting like that, but 2-7x is enough for me, even with my old eyes, to shoot some nice groups. Have even shot nice groups with old fixed 4x scopes on some vintage lever guns. Still way better for me at 100 yards than using iron sights. At that distance, target visibility gets to be a real problem for me.

Yup, 5 shots almost always guarantees a larger group, but I think it is a statistically more reliable indicator of a rifle's performance, but still doable from the standpoint of the shooter and the shooter's concentration. 10 shot groups, though, are mostly about the shooter. Much harder to go 10 rounds without pulling a shot ... or two.
