What preferences do y'all have, automatic or revolver for a carry gun ???
I mostly carry my S&W BG38+P in warm weather and a few extra rounds. 1.1lbs loaded and fits in front pants pocket, hardly know it's there. No muss no fuss, point & pull trigger.
The Wife has a hard time racking the slide on autos due to missing finger tips on her left hand. She can do it, but struggles. It taught her to hold slide with right and push with left, that helped, but she prefers a revolver.
When cooler, sometimes I'll carry my Walther P99, I have a holster that holds 2 extra magazines, 15+1 and 30 extra SHOULD be enough !!! Also has a decocking lever and DA & SA, with one in the chamber, harder trigger pull will cock and fire, but striker is not set. Pretty safe.

I am older and just prefer a revolver. I use the Ruger LCRx in .38+P. I also carry 2 speed strips. I shoot .38 specials. I have Hornady Critical Defense Ammo in the speed strips to reload with but I keep wadcutters in the revolver. They are the most accurate for me at close range and make a big hole.

I like both and have both. I have a shield in 45acp I carry alot and I like Steve have the LCRx in 38. I like it because its so light and when I go for my bike rides in the summer it carrys well in the bike jerseys. I as well have the critical denfense ammo. Al

I'm partial to the heavy duty SS Ruger revolvers. I usually carry a Ruger SP101 in the summer, GP 100 in the winter with a coat. Use 38+P in both.

add us to the revolver group .... in a former life I carried a revolver in connection with my duties in NC's Dept of Connection and have no desire to do so ..... my wife likes her Smith J-frame

I wish Canada had carry laws, but nope. Packing the Big Boy with a full mag tube in the mall is frowned upon as well. Go figure.

First, let me say that whether you carry a revolver or semi-auto is all personal preference. There is no right or wrong to it.

As for me, while I have carried a semi-autos on rare occasions, it's really all revolvers for me, as you might expect from a cowgirl at heart. More than that, however, my carry needs, which are only a rare sometimes thing, are about protection against big toothy critters and that usually means magnum cartridges, which are best managed by revolvers.

As for type of revolver, I'm faster and more accurate for follow up shooting with single actions than shooting double action revolvers in DA. That, and I am just more comfy with single actions.

My Ruger Blackhawk 45 with Ruger only bear loads is what I carry in the spring for the few weeks when bears are out and a bit hungry and grouchy.

Here are my usual carry guns BG38 and Rem UMC 38+P JHP
And my Walther P99 9mm, first 5-6 in the mag are JHP.

Must be because its an assualt rifle right?

My first carry gun was a 5 shot Rossi 38spl revolver with a 4" barrel. It wasn't the best made gun in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but it was beautifully balanced and certainly accurate enough at the sort of distances that it was designed for. The only drawback was the limited shot count, which made me look for something a bit better. That something turned out to be a Browning Hi-Power Parabellum 9mm.

I had the Browning for around 10 years, and it gave great service, until the barrel started showing signs of wear. After that came a CZ 75, which in my opinion is probably the best 9mm semi-auto pistol ever made. It was double action, with a 17 round magazine, which made for a perfect carry gun. One of the worst things about leaving South Africa was having to sell the CZ, but such is life.

There is no opportunity for a personal carry weapon in the UK, although oddly enough there is in Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, but that is now bordering on political comment so I'll leave it there.
