I shot a friend's brass Big Boy today. I now "need" one of those ASAP. What a sweet shooter that thing is. My friend had a bunch of .38 special handloads he want to shoot up. They cycled just fine in his rifle, and produced almost zero recoil. We put a bunch of shotgun clays out on the 100 yard berm, and plinked away at them. Looking through iron sights, those thing were tiny, but we were actually able to hit them.

Time to save my nickels and pennies.

It's a sweet rifle and the recoil from the .357 rounds is pretty much zero too.

the Henry 357 line of rifles are truly fun rifles to shoot .... that's true for their 41, 44, and 45's as well .... with Cowboy Action level loads, even their 45-70 ain't bad at all

My experience is limited to the Henry H001 Classic .22 and the H006M Brass Big Boy .357, but you'd have to pry both of them from my cold, dead hands before I'd give them up. I absolutely love the BBB and shoot it most often.

The concern others have about the BBB's weight became insignificant to me. It was only heavy for the first few trips to the range, then it became just right and satisfying for the very reasons you liked it. I got used to the weight very quickly and I even consider the extra pounds somewhat helpful. When shooting, it has absolutely NO recoil, even with the most stout .357s, so a hundred rounds or more of range time flies by with no pain, all gain, and too fast.

I really LOVE this gun. If you get one, you will NOT be sorry.

I love my BBS 44, but my next Henry will definitely be a 357

The one I shot today was a dream to shoot, and a big part of it is actually because it's a bit hefty. The weight makes it a very steady platform to shoot. A shotgun clay at 100 yards is a mere speck above the brass bead front sight. Even the slightest bit of wiggling would make you miss by a mile. The BB was steady as a rock.

I love shoot clays on the ditch bank with 38 special or 357. I havent done them at 100 but at 50 to 75 yards they are a kick. Reloading 38 special in my Dillon is a piece of cake and I can load and shoot them cheaper than 22 mag. As far as I am concerned you cant beat the BB in 357 or now the BB carbine in 357 for just plain fun. Plinking or other wise. Al

I also have a BB .357 but mine is the steel version. I handled the brass/octagon barrel and steel/round barrel and found the steel version to balance better; it just felt natural when shouldering and moving the rifle. I plan to hunt with mine and did not want the extra weight of the brass and octagon barrel. Plinking clay birds at 50 yards off a bank and shooting steel gongs is fun. Shooting an 8 inch diameter gong at 100 yards with 38 special in this rifle is a hoot as there is a bang as the shot goes off, a pause as the bullet travels , and then a gong. First time I shot at the gong I thought I had missed, then heard the gong. Just have to wait for the bullet to get there.

I hope you manage to get a Big Boy asap. I am waiting (very impatiently) for a .357 BB and a .22 20" Frontier to arrive from the USA. I definitely have the Henry 'bug'!

Saving up my pennies also. Sold my beat up SKS to my step son to fund the BB purchase...

At the range, I never even notice the heftiness of the BB. I just notice how comfortable it is to hold and to shoot with its minimal recoil. I honestly wouldn't want it any lighter.

Really enjoy my 357 Big Boy Steel. Awesome rifle.

you will most certainly find a BB 357 is a really fun rifle to shoot .... within its range it is capable of punching tight groupls of holes in paper and can most certainly put venison in the freezer

Agreed. I like the heft of it.

The few times I have taken mine out (new), I have not even noticed the weight because I am so darn excited to shoot the great looking, FUN FUN FUN lever action.

You are right! If you don't have a Henry .357, you gotta have one.
I have the steel version but it is a great shooter. Of all the Henry's I have, if I could only have one - I would choose the .357. Just a great all-purpose rifle.

I have a Henry Big Boy steel in .327fed/mag on order as I type.
I'm hoping o take possession in the next week or two.
C'mon Henry, ship my rifle already!

It has been a little tough to read these great posts sharing how much y'all appreciate the Henry .357 magnum BB rifles. Due to some financial needs, I had to sell both my Steel BB and Bronze BB. It was a wrench both times. I don't have enough pennies to recover a new one, but think about it often. He are some pictures of my Big Boys. Yes, the .357 Magnum Henry is a great rifle!
