Daily Carry Test

Post by BrokenolMarine » Mon Feb 26, 2024 11:27 am

I have two daily carry pieces and it had been a while since I was able to shoot either. Today I took the old girl down to the Range. My Sig P220 .45 was a gift from the wife WAY back in the early 90s. The county PD carried the P220, and I shot this one in the PPC matches for Service Auto. She's old, scarred, and showing her wear, but still shoots. :) At least SHE hasn't gotten fat. :o

I haven't shot much in the last eighteen months other than that 18 rounds in the Single action last week. I put fifteen rounds thru the SIG at ten yards offhand, both single action and double action to see if we could still dance. Yup... we still have our moves.

The P220 and the Miami Classic Shoulder Holster...

Today's target with my 15 rounds. I'm happy. :D

I planned to shoot another 45 at the time, but the chamber was a bit tight for the reloads, I'll need to shoot ball ammo, or factory hollow points in that one.

Nice shootin' :) I just ordered a shoulder rig from DiamondD for my Colt 1911, after looking at the Miami and others. Not much difference in prices, so they won the coin flip.

As I got older, and the aches and pains piled on from the various careers... a shoulder holster made sense. I have several these days, but the miami classic and the p220 are my favorite combo.

Who says duty guns don't shoot. ;) I would have the Metro PD armorer change out the springs and inspect the gun about every 5,000 rounds when I was shooting competition. (I bought the spring kits out of MY pocket... ) I was a Glock Armorer, the Metro PD armorer was certified for Smith, Colt, Glock, Sig, HK... and a few others... he had been a Range Master for two decades. 8-) Among other things. When he retired he had a folder filled with offers.

Marine, I took your suggestion this weekend and shot my new Rossi .357, rapid fire (44 rounds). But, I did see what I could do first slow firing. Slow firing was not bad. Rapid firing, there is some room for improvement. So, that will probably be my focus, when I do make it to the range.

By the way, nice shooting!

Gunpowder therapy is good for the soul.
I haven’t shot in way too long. Local range is indoors and I have found that I don’t like it much. Closest good outdoor is over an hour drive. Wish I could shoot in my backyard but I really don’t want to meet the local deputies that badly.
I like the shoulder rig and have considered getting one so I can carry one of my full size guns. I shoot them better than my "carry" sized guns.
Good to see that you are getting to spend time dancing on that nice range. Wish I was there.

Looks like you could still take care of business with that one! Great shooting!
