I saw that video yesterday and that was first time I have heard about it. Might be great for small game hunting but for self defense I would stick with
38 Special for low recoil.

I saw something about it yesterday also. It has some pretty big claims.

Watched that video yesterday as well. 22 Plinkster is one of very few firearm and ammunition reviewers that I put some trust in.
I may pick some of this up for my wife to have something better than a heavy pocketbook for self defense. She can rack my Ruger SR22 but my other semiauto pistols don’t work for her. She doesn’t handle recoil well at all. She is petite and just doesn’t have the hand strength required.
Most of the time we are out and about together so basically she would be my back up gun. I would feel better with her carrying a gun with this ammunition than swinging a pocketbook at the bad guy.
I also like the suggestion from 22plinkster to load the Federal Punch ammo alternated with the uppercut.

Now that is truly interesting, not to mention very impressive. A plated 22 LR bullet is a great tech achievement. No, I won't be using these for self-defense because I don't even have a semi-auto 22, right now. I do think, however, that this new Uppercut ammo will become very useful out of a rifle and maybe give the 22 mag some competition on animals a bit too big for regular 22 LR ammo. Curious to hear how it works for hunting out of a rifle.

Interested but not finding any in stock even at CCI. Ranging in price from $12.99 - $16 per box of 50 plus shipping of course. I will check locally but ain't holding my breath.

Been following the YouTube vids on the new Uppercut. Not very impressed. Pretty anemic.

Ya, kinda corny but informative. Definitely not for short barreled 22s. Which is also what Plinkster had to say (4:00 min mark).
The Uppercut in Plinkster's video showed better in the longer barreled 22s.

I happened to be at the gun store today and they had a Ruger LCP II in .22. I thought of buying it, but when I checked the .22 ammo shelf no Uppercut (or Punch) to test with. So I didn't bite. Glad I didn't after seeing the corny video. Thanks for sharing it.

Found a another corny video by the same author.

22Plinkster commented on this video.
3 videos later, I must say something: The reason you are not getting expansion on your rounds is because of the gel block. Yes, CBG (Clear Ballistic Gel) looks cool and gives you a visual for TouTube, but the FBI laughs at that synthetic material. CBG is NOT accurate at testing bullet penetration or expansion. I tried it myself, and nothing expanded. However, when I used simtek gel, the same as the FBI uses for ALL test, the bullet performed beautifully each and every time. Would you rather have a bullet that looks pretty going through CBG or use a gel that actually simulates human tissue and blood? I would much rather it work in a real-world environment than to look good for a video. Yes, I have used CBG in many of my videos for visual effects, but it is not accurate. Ask anyone who has been testing ammunition for years. Get some simtek gel, the same gel that the FBI and industries have been using for years, and try your test again. You will be amazed at the results. That's why I mentioned in my video what I was using and why. I hope this helps.

Thanks for this thread, I can currently run my 9mm pistol, but with difficulty and I have to concentrate hard, I may end up with a .22LR or .22 Mag 4” pistol. It makes me feel better about that change. I was originally thinking that I could use my 10/22, for home defense, but that only seems practical if CCI comes out with a carbine version at say 1000 fps. Definitely want it to stay subsonic!!! This ammo is definitely better than a sharp stick or pepper spray.
My 9mm carry load is a heavy subsonic Gold Dot. I like the bullet.
Peripheral Neuropathy sucks, pardon my grammar!

I watched the new Plinkster video and the gel comparison. I don't know anything about get and gel testing other that what I see and hear on the internet so.......
How about hanging a side of beef up on a pole either with hide on or some denim. Pack some gel in behind the flesh and bone and so some testing.
Or get a few feral hogs--kill them first--lay them out---shoot with the ammo---dissect to get the rounds out---see what they look like.
Maybe have the person who does this not be one of the people who have already tested the ammo and who is not getting paid by CCI, the gun manufatures, etc......
