Boomer to the desert

Took my Browning 1885 High Wall for some exercise today. I am very impressed with this rifle; not only is it a real looker, it shoots lights out. Shooting at guesstimated ranges from around 75 yards out to around 300, this rifle just doesn’t seem to be able to miss. I’m no Billy Dixon, but this gun sure makes me look good. I just wish 45-70 ammo wasn’t so spendy!

Good for you. Yeah, 45-70 ammo is pricey. If I shoot my Ruger No. 3 in 45-70 the way I hope to shoot it next summer, I may think about taking up reloading, again.

Good on you. Most folks don't know anything about Billy Dixon or even who he was. There is a Masonic Lodge in Texas named after him.

Centaur, ya got a pic of that beaut?
You may want to think about loading your own.
I know if it weren't for the fact that I took up reloading many years back now,
I surely wouldn't be able to enjoy a good number of firearms I own nearly as much.
Billy Dixon.

Vaquero, I do reload 45-70, but even that has become a bit spendy.
Here’s the rifle, not in the desert, but in the Bighorns of Wyoming.

Cool pic., thanks for sharing. I'm out and about at the moment. I'll check it out on the pc when I get home.
Lots of powder in those big ole cases, I load some 444. Not as bad as yours, but some loads take more than others as we know.
