Al, you took the right medicine for your ills. Good for you to get out and shoot, and, good shooting always makes one feel better.

Begining load is 6.0 grains in the Lyman book. I pushed it up a couple tenths. Im gonna give 6.2 a try and see how it does next time out.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Agree totally, a couple of years ago I traded my 4” 686 for a 6”. The 4” was nice for woods carry as I used to carry it while muzzleloader hunting.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 11:24 amSingle action. Ive been trying to get some consistency with loads and testing loads so I have been shooting single action. At times I wonder if I should have bought the 6.5 inch barrel model but it was a big gun. Shooting this 4 inch barrel model has been a challenge. Besides if I wanted to carry it in the woods for a bear gun it would be alot lighter.

Me, too. Back in the day when I was hunting with revolvers, I'd carry 6" and longer revolvers for the sake of performance, but for just general woods carry, I much, much prefer 4" class revolvers, which translates to 4 1/2" or 4 5/8" in single actions
