Range Report: early morning shadows

Joanie’s report on the Ruger Sporters made me want to get mine out but the lighting wasn’t the best and they deserve paper targets.

By the shadows cast from the SGC you can tell it’s early morning.

Even the targets at the berm (the close targets are for BB’s and pellets) were in sun and shadows. I fed ten rounds of SV into the tube and shot offhand. To my surprise I could hear I hit the traps even though I could barely see them. Well the first three hit and then I missed the next seven. I’ve always said I’m a three hit wonder.

In that light, it's hard to beat 3 out of ten.

I like that large loop rifle.

Yep it’s the same design as The Rifleman’s. I also have one called the Rio Bravo after the John Wayne movie. Both were custom made and I bought them on eBay about 15 to 20 years ago.

Good for you, Gene. Shadows are a real problem on our backyard range, so we just scope everything. Of course, we have about as much money tied up in scoops as guns. :)
